Dyno jet reads the power from inertia and calculates torque from hp/rpm. As far as reading low, the block itself with the weather correction will make the most difference. Make sure the block has good airflow for accurate temp and humid settings

In alot of miatas the 5 gear teeth will break off. I've blown two 5th gears in my 150hp miata. The first replacement was a used transmission and the second time I bought a rebuild kit and that hasn't broke yet.

You might want to invest in some solid driveline bushings (motor mounts, diff bushings etc), it’ll help reduce the shifter from shaking as bad

A lot of earlier 5 speeds in many cars have a pretty weak 5th gear as it’s only intention is to be the overdrive cruising on the highway, not designed to be beat on. A mate blew 5th gear out of his celica gearbox in his old Holden ute racing down the freeway. Older Toyota land cruisers were known to kill 5th gear when towing heavy loads etc as overdrive wasn’t built to be used hard. 👍

I wouldn’t even bother with the 6 speed trans. You can put a bmw zf trans in it and get a solstice rear diff. You won’t have any issues out of that setup

Hey try checking the clutch slave cylinder. Those can cause difficulty to shift on some or all gears. But it's weird never seen a manual transmission break at fith gear

Hey Gavin, miatas 5 speeds can only handle around 250WTQ which is probably where you’re about at. There’s a 6 speed nb miata trans or you can get adapter plates and get a do and rx7 trans. Another 5 speed will not last in it
