I binned my old pump for the same reason. I just got a new one and put it in, but I hate throwing parts away just for a gasket or some other small part. Great video, Mike. I'm amazed how you can produce a video every second day !!

It's a real shame pumps are rebuildable - but the parts you need are the same price as a new pump! Thanks for the kind words Mike

Thanks for the video! Perfect timing as mine is leaking from the Oring I think so will change mine now.

A stitch in time etc! Quite easy to do and I was hoping this was the problem on this pump Mike

Another great video Mike though looking at your test rig I think you're gradually turning into caracticus potts! Incidentally my 97 300tdi disco pump is leaking so it looks like a new pump then.
@BritannicaRestorations6 жыл бұрын
Oh my! Caracticus Potts! 1969 Regent cinema Redcar Yorkshire - happy days! I was 8! Check out DPG Defenders comment in this section - there is now a gasket available for £8 I have ordered 2 and will do a video when it comes on my 'Potts tester'! Mike

Would you know how to fix a power steering leak on a Land Rover discovery 1 200tdi 1993
@davidyeates55256 жыл бұрын
Very interesting, would be nice if more things were repairable. Don't think mines leaking but something has made the pulley push out of line and so the sharp back edge of the pulley has stripped the back edge of the belt.
@BritannicaRestorations6 жыл бұрын
David - I had one like that a few years ago - always shredding belts but no play = someone had pushed the pulley too far back on the shaft Mike
@davidyeates55256 жыл бұрын
Britannica Restorations good to know thanks, either way I've ordered a new belt and I'll have to see if I can adjust it before I fit it. Cheers.

I cannot recall if there is a bearing or a bushing in the pump but there should be no end float - I will try and do a quick video tomorrow and show the distance from the end of the shaft to the drive flange Mike

I appear to leak at the reservoir - reservoir ok - at least it appears to be leaking from the pipe that lead from the reservoir / how much pressure in the pipes?
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
There should be no pressure in the pipes - they are only feed and return
@itolond2 жыл бұрын
@@BritannicaRestorations That was my take - then i assume its probably where the pipes clamp to the reservoir - they look pretty tight but i will recheck
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
Hoses will probably be old and dry

Hello mike I have leaks on my pumpe so I bought stc1633. I just received it now and i don t see gasket for the pipe i m afraid There is a lips gasket for the shaft and a very large "o" ring. Since what you said on this video, i was wandering if it is useful to remove the pumpe and use my kit ? Or maybe start with the pipe gasket (changed in situ) and see what happent. Then do you have a référence for the pipe gasket ? Rgds Vince
@BritannicaRestorations3 жыл бұрын
Vince - as far as I know there are no kits for these pumps from LR hence no part numbers - these pumps were used on a lot of vehicles and some guys have gone to the trouble of reproducing spares but I cannot give a precise reference - bit hit and miss and that is why I just get OEM pumps now for customers
@vincea14013 жыл бұрын
@@BritannicaRestorations ok I ll buy oem Thanks for advices

By the way did you made video about black smoke when starting engine ? I just change all the glow plug but i keep havre big black smog when starting engine Any idea out of glow plug or relay ?
@BritannicaRestorations3 жыл бұрын
Tdi always puff black smoke on start up - 2 stage injectors for cold start - even when hot!
@vincea14013 жыл бұрын
@@BritannicaRestorations so new injector needed ? Did you made video about the subject (injection pump adjustement or injector )

while you're on Mike got any cures for a defender drivers door not shutting without being slammed shut umpteen times, got a feeling it might be the reinforced corner on the door seal (not new) it has gotten gradually worse.
@BritannicaRestorations6 жыл бұрын
If the reinforcement are in, then the whole door fights against them. On one of my videos I explain I hang the door before I fit the seal - then you know 100 % it is the seals fault not the door - just make sure you have even gaps all round and the hinges are not loose or the pins buggered! Mike

cheers, i had seen the video, just wondered if it was the striker that had moved inwards slightly and how easy it was to adjust the striker if necessary.
@BritannicaRestorations6 жыл бұрын
Could be - those strikers always move on my 130 Mike
@TheBadadj6 жыл бұрын
Britannica Restorations I actually checked the doors at the weekend, without the seals in, it seemed to shut fine but I also noticed that the door card was very tight against the seat box, which may have impeded it slightly, think I might go for new seals, I've got a feeling in one of your videos you said that the reinforcement has gone all together.

I got mixed up with the reply above! I was wanting to know how the Masai replacement window trims hold onto the body = I have the genuine ones here which are sprung steel clips and look difficult to replicate
