Most of the hate is because it's a tweakable preset box, you don't have the synth engine. But I chose it because it has more than acid to offer and its features are awesome for live performances :)

For one track audio recording, you just need a usb cable. For multitrack recording, you will need an audio interface. For midi sequencing, you will need a midi interface.

i recommend getting the Roland MX-1. it has specific USB inputs for the TR-8S,TB-3,System 1, & VT-3. All midi & audio is sent from the instruments to the MX-1 & there you can send everything through USB to your computer. if you have a DAW you can route each channel of the MX-1 to it's own track channel for multitrack recording. The MX-1 can also be used as a soundcard for your computer. I love my Roland gear 😄 (edit because forgot some words)

That B variation fill in / breaks sound amazing. Also, that manually triggered fill-in almost sounds like it's in reverse? How did you do that?

Thanks a lot !🙏 First, I set manual trig button to momentary in the general settings. This allows to trig just few steps if you want to and not only the full bar. Then, I choose the scatter type in pattern settings. Here it's the 10th, and scatter depth is set to 1. Et voilà, you got it 😉👊

Is the outputs of tr8s going to an audio interface? Then your monitors are into the interface as normal? TB3 on the tr8s external in? Cheers

Yes tb3 goes to external in of tr8s with a bit of internal sidechain fx. And tr8s goes to my soundcraft signature 10, which acts as audio interface, plugged usb to computer :)

@@krostifmusic sweet. Can u record individual channels on individual tracks via the sound craft over USB? Or cab u just record the main mix? I’m looking for a mixer or interface at the mo and don’t know what to go with. Individual channels as individual audio tracks in logic would be amazing but I’m price conscious so not sure what to go with.

Plus, if recording individual instruments rather than main mix, does the tr8s external in have its own track? Or is the drums and acid recorded to the same tr8s track? Recording and hardware etc gets well confusing to me as I’m a newb. Cheers

@H-Dawg man, there are so many options 😅 I don't have multitrack recorder myself, I never had and uses Linux computer, which complicate things.. but if you're mac/Windows, you can use almost any audio interface out there with your current daw and the right settings.. just choose how many inputs you need before buying something and you're done :) some tascam mixer/recorders models are standalone and great options as well, will be my favorite option if I had the money to buy one ;) And, no. Ext in tr8s doesn't have its iwn track but you can have 6 assignable outs tho.
