I think these boys dropped their 👑 s I love hearing the support and excitement these boys created with the crowd. You can't fake this enjoyment and the incredible talent these boys have when you hear everyone's reaction. No wonder these boys took out Best All Male Choir AND the Pasifika Award.

That ‘unnecessary screaming’ is our fa’aumu. In our Samoan culture, this type of chanting was considered our war cries. But we also use it to express our happiness, or pride in something. It is definitely not unnecessary.

I have a silly question. Is this the Auckland Town Hall. The last time I was there was in 1956 when I was 15 years old. But I remember the hall being much larger. Thank you.

@@tamatilichtwark8429 Disagreed. In the island where I grew up were never disrespectful we only cheered hard after each segments of the competitions, its the new generation that grew up outside the island. The island events are usually held outside in the open, but in an enclosed environment the people should used their common sense and consideration of others. Especially you are there to hear the beauty of the outcome of all the hard work they put to be where they are, but they are drowned out by some people who just there to hear themselves instead of the participant of the show, which is disappointing it makes me think that they aren't educated. It sounds harsh but something to ponder on and hope you understand.

@@pkalamelimnati8472 This wasn't during the competition. I was also at the competition and the Gala concert as a performing student. The choirs are all assessed in the concert which happens during the school day, the performance you are seeing here is the Gala concert which it just to showcase the songs to the public. Personally I love to here all the energy and enthusiasm to support the choir performances as it just elevates the whole experience. It's not disrespectful because the gala concert it just for people to enjoy the choirs as the judges have already determined who is getting awards and all, what's the point in going to support and cheer on you friends and family if you can't express it properly. I had goosebumps the whole concert and hearing supporters made the students there so happy, it truly helps build a more confident and unitive environment for everyone. I understand times are different now compared to when you grew up in the islands but in New Zealand people are trying to support their family and friends and I don't think that should be discredited for people coming 'just to hear the choirs', the cheering, support and environment should as be a motivation to attend. I hope that didn't come off too aggressive but this year was my 2nd year at the Big Sing and I absolutely loved it. Just something to take into consideration. On top of that Fortissimo was absolutely incredible so all the cheering was well deserved! Can't wait to attend again next year!!

This is the gala performance. The judged performance happened earlier during the day. This concert was the celebration of a successful day where they got to show their best item of their set. Support and cheering was welcomed.
