It was the first video that brought me to the channel. If I was you I would capitalise on the laptop gpu In a desktop system and find and hunt out more gpu's to reviews and test. This is a market not many have made videos about

Side note aliexpress has loads of laptop gpu In a desktop gpu case. Last thing seeing you do lots of old tech like pixel pipe yt. You can also get older laptop gpu's and cpu made to run on desktops so you don't have to spend alot to make a good video and I'm sure others like myself would love to watch

I can tell! I think I'm only about the third person looking at this card.. If I could find more I absolutely would, but I'm wary of AliExpress import fees. Also I'm pretty much always broke ;)

Awesome to see more of the 3060 Frankenstein The comparison really shows to highlight how even though older i5s and i7s offer a lot pf value, there's a good amount of performance left on the table when pairing them with a new GPU.

Absolutely. Even a decade old chip is good for modern gaming, although it depends on the chip 😉

Okay so Im not really familiar with shadow of the tomb raider specifically, but got interested and did some digging. Not entirely sure I get what the numbers are supposed to represent statistically, but "GPU bound" definitely means the amount of time the GPU was the bottleneck, preventing more frames going through. The result table is a bit more fuzzy to me but from what I gather, "cpu render" is the portion of the processor used to push frames to the gpu, while "cpu game" is the portion of the processor used for handling ingame stuff (it is a benchmark in the game engine after all), Shadow of the tomb raider seems to be a very cpu/ram intensive game though, and used primarily for those types of benchmarks. If I understand this correctly, that would mean that what actually matters is the relationship between the numbers in the table in conjunction with the score, not necessarily that bigger number in table = better. In this case that would probably mean that the work load and 'binding point' has shifted alot from the gpu to the cpu, which would make alot of sense considering the 2 computers you used. TL;DR - indication of bottleneck changing?

Well thanks for looking into it! I think I'll just use the average FPS score going forward 😉

Thanks! I don't do a lot about newer stuff, so with the avalanche of recent subscriptions based on the 3060m I just didn't want people to think they'd be getting content about modern hardware! That being said I'm currently working on a third video on it, and I'm tempted to get a 6600m card from China..

I've recently noticed that if I leave my mouse on a video I'm watching it's smooth, but if I have the cursor over something else the framework tanks. This is on any video - not just mine. Could be a browser thing?
@tahustvedt Жыл бұрын
Any reasono why you render videos at 23 fps? :) There's a lot of stutter. A multiplier of 30 works best.
@RetroKomodo Жыл бұрын
I do? I mean the sped up benchmarks look jerky - sure.. but as far as I know I've been rendering out video at either 30 or 60! I'll try to make any sped up video a derivative of 30 in the future :)
@tahustvedt Жыл бұрын
@@RetroKomodoI noticed the stutter so I right clicked the video to check "stats for nerds" and it says the video is 23 fps. Just about all monitors and devicec run a multiplier of 30 so that's uaually what works best.

@@tahustvedt Hold on - i'm playing the video using the nerd stats and I see 'Current / Optimal Res 1920x1080@30 / 1920x1080@30' - is that what you're looking at?

@@RetroKomodo Weird. Now it says 30. It said 23 on both part 1 and part 2 yesterday. KZbin's fault then. Any way... Good video.
@tolil85472 ай бұрын
Why are the videos so chopy? With that framerate it should be smooth. Is because of KZbin compression?
@RetroKomodo2 ай бұрын
There's a previous comment saying the same thing - about it playing at 23 FPS. Turns out it was KZbin, and on a rewatch it went to 30 as it should have done. Internet stuff eh? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
