I have been using dlss balance mode on 1440p with path tracing and ray reconstruction as well as ultra setting and have been getting 55+ fps. 7950x3d, 32gb ram ddr5 6000 cl32, 3080 12gb. And picture looks much better on balance.

@@mechanicalmonk2020 at 4K hardly the RTX 4090 can push a decent FPS, but not in all game, without DLSS tricks. Basically, RTX 4090 is not a 4K native res card, in today games, mostly run under 60 FPS in Unreal Engine 5 games. So paying that much for a RTX 4090 is a total bad move for the upcoming games. And you think 3080 is 4K card, not even close. I got the 3080 for 1440p, that is the res the card is good at.

Yeah if it launched alongside the 3080 it'd be the mich better buy than the regular 3080 for the extra cache, mem bandwidth and vram. 3080ti is alright (3090 performance with half the vram) but ur so close to 3090 price atp that the missing vram really is a big issue. The 3080 12gb is within 5% performance of the 3080ti so I don't see why you wouldn't just save the $400

Thats the change i made 7 or 8 month ago. The 3080 was good but my 4070ti Asus TUF with silent bios is masterclass. Fans spin at 1000-1200 rpm are ultra silent. 50-150 watt less Power and 30-75% more fps.

I'm looking to upgrade my 2070 so for me a 4070 (Super/TI) will be a massive uplift as it was when I went from a 970 to a 2070. To summarise, if you can afford a replacment GPU which increses the peformance of your current rig by 100% in the games you play, with the config you prefer - DLSSX, RTX on/off, FG on/off etc, than you should be pretty satisfied. At least we can flex about our 24gb vram. Seriously I only use my 3090 on a 1440p 165hz monitor. I undervolted the thing like all 3090 users do. The only time I consider upgrading to 4090 or next 5000series is for Skyrim VR and MSFS VR. Since GTA6 is releasing on consoles first. I'll just get a cheap Xbox series X when the time comes.

@@adink6486 Yeah, I have a 1440p 144hz monitor and this rocks it. I just finished playing Callisto Protocol: everything on Ultra and it ran 100 to 144 constantly. Tried Ray Tracing but did not like how unstable it was - 40 to 60 in certain parts - so I removed it. I think the next purchase needs to be able to have Ray tracing above 60 fps (more if possible) on my resolution, and see from there what to do.

This is kind of a flawed comparison, because you're not actually looking at "gen to gen", you're looking at "price to price", which makes no sense. You can't use the current inflated prices of the 40 series and call this apples to apples. The 4070 Ti Super should have been at least $100 less. The 3070 Ti was $600 MSRP. I understand that people are going to have a limit on how much they are willing to spend on a GPU, but that's not really what this video is showing. Pretty much no one that does benchmarking does gen to gen by price. They do it by the tier of the card. If you're already going to dump $800 on a GPU, you may as well just get the 4080 Super for $200 more. Clearly you aren't struggling for cash when you start spending as much as what a 4070 Ti Super costs.

I'd personally say the 400mm 256 bit 4070TI super's direct predecessor is the 400mm 256 bit 3070. I look at the 600mm 384 bit 3080 and see just a cut down 90 class card, where as i see the 400mm 256 bit 4080, and see the great grandson of the ~400mm 256 bit GTX 970, 2070, and 3070 it's totally valid to compare the 3080 and the 4070TI Super, or the 4050 mobile, heck its totally valid to compare the 4070TI Super and the GTX 295, but the 3080, and 4070TI Super are not in the same manufacturing class, one die is 400mm with a 256 bit bus, the other is a 600mm die with a 384 bit bus And if i didnt make it clear, the hardware class and age of the card should not have any bearing on the validity of comparrisons. Just look at the RTX 3060, and RTX 4070TI(non super) just because they're both in the same manufacture class of ~300mm 192bit bus, the 4070TI is basically 2.5 nodes newer, so the performance is more like a 3080 through 3090TI, sure sometimes the narrow bus of the 4070TI can signicicantly hold it back, but we probably wont see games where this matters for another 2-4 years, and by then, most people would have replaced their lower mid-range 4070TI with a 5070, or whichever fits within that lower mid-range price bracket. Its normally the low end buyers going for cards like the 4070, or 4070 super that tend to keep their cards for many many years, and then a few of the people that go for 4090s because they want to at least have a mid to low end performance for the next 6 years.

At the end of 2022, I was building my gaming PC with a planned setup of the 12700K and a 3070. Due to the chip shortage and pandemic-related price hikes, I opted for just the 12700K to use for basic purposes for two years. Recently, I was able to upgrade to a 4070 Ti Super for the same price as a 3070 during that period, which was quite a steal considering the increased prices. The 4070 Ti Super's 16GB VRAM is a huge upgrade over the 3070's 8GB, and its performance is comparable to the elusive 3090 Ti, which used to be out of my reach. I'm thoroughly impressed with the value and performance of the 4070 Ti Super; it's definitely not overpriced and has been a great addition to my setup!

What i have found from watching this channel is that people are more interested in numbers than enjoying games. I get the argument that if a game looks better and run more smoothly that creates more enjoyment but does it really or are we back to just the numbers thing again haha.

@elderman64 Sorry I should clarify it was a Store Warranty and not a manufacturers warranty, so Microcenter was willing to swap me to an equivalent value upgrade. It was the ASUS TUF 4070ti super Since I spent around $800 for the evga FTW3 3080 12gb they were willing to install an equivalent value card. The issue was that a fan bearing on the EVGA fully failed.

I have a 3080 10gig card and my next upgrade will happen when I get 3080 x2 perf for under $350 around at RTX 7xxx-8xxx series ~2028. I think I'll be good with the 3080 for this whole PS5 era for an upscaled 1080p@60fps experience.

I agree with you Daniel, if you don't get AT LEAST 50% more performance DO NOT upgrade, it's not worth spending several hundreds of $/€/£ ! The whole RTX 40 lineup is very disappointing imo, the only exception being 3090 => 4090 with about 60-80% more performance for just $100 more, but all the rest is total crap when comparing Performance/Price at MSRP.

Man the Eagle model is so bad. My suprim X version rarely dips below 1980Mhz at stock. Here in Australia i bought my MSI RTX 3080 12GB Suprim X for $1099 (AUD) and the cheapest 4070ti super is $1350

Feels like the 4070 (/super) would be the equivalent to the 3080? At least, this is how it should work up and down the stack. Nvidia missed the mark on the lower end cards In any case my 3080 isn't getting swapped for anything below a 4080 super, but might wait to see what the 5070/5080 brings

3080 12gb is actually 5% faster than 3080 10 gb. also 3080 10 gb does face vram bottleneck in 1440p & performance takes big hit. 3080 10gb is what most people have & 4070 ti super should be on average 30-35% faster. also offers 60% vram capacity, fg & Power efficiency. so simply calling it not worthwhile upgrade just by comparing raw performance is unfair.

A few months ago I've bought used 3080 for cheaper, than new 4060 Ti. Uplift from 3060ti was pretty decent. I'm going to stay with it... well, until any GPU with actual good perf/price happens, so probably not so fast. Or if not, then maybe for some used 40x0, after 50x0 launch.
