Youare correct sir: Home Depot markets to folks starting a building project, Lowes is geared more to projects that need to be finished all purty. Happy to see you maing this leap. We all got great expectations!

Thank you for showing this with the pricing. I'm only about an hour away from you so I can use these numbers to estimate mine. WTF!! You have been completely scammed by the "concrete crew." You never dump stone on grass to than pour concrete on top of. Concrete can not be put on top of any organic material such as grass/topsoil because its not structural. All of that grass needed to be taken out, than stone put back in properly compacted in lifts till you met bottom of form. This Pad will be very likely to crack as the ground beneath is completely wrong. This company 100% has no business doing this line of work...Comments about rebar aren't as critical if they used a fiber mix, Im more concerned about the structural integrity of this pad long term!!! I do this for a living, so I think I know what im talking about.

Been watching for a quite a while man loves the vids. I’m curious on why they didint strip top soil to get to the hard clay and then start the pole barn pad on that? Hopefully they did some test holes to make sure the ground is stable enough so you won’t have any settling issues that could cause cracks in concrete foundation, drainage issues etc. just throwing that out there so you don’t get screwed!

It's crazy that they didn't remove the top 6 inches of soil first then spread rock. That organic matter will break down over time and leave voids. It might end up okay but they didn't do it right.

It’s not advisable to pour concrete directly over grass, even if you place stone on top of it first. Here’s why: 1. Grass Decay: Grass will eventually die and decompose underneath the concrete, which can create voids or pockets. This can lead to uneven settling and cracking of the concrete slab over time. 2. Poor Stability: Grass and soil beneath the grass are not stable enough to support a concrete slab. They can shift or settle, causing the concrete to crack or become uneven. 3. Moisture Issues: Grass holds moisture, which can get trapped underneath the concrete. This can lead to problems like mold growth or increased chances of cracking as the concrete expands and contracts. What You Should Do: 1. Remove the Grass: Clear the area of any grass, roots, and organic material. 2. Proper Base Preparation: Excavate to the desired depth, add a layer of compacted gravel or crushed stone for a stable base, and then pour the concrete over this base. 3. Compact the Base: Ensure the base is well-compacted to provide a solid foundation for the concrete. Skipping these steps could lead to a shorter lifespan for your concrete slab and potential structural issues down the line.
