Definitely easier to do this in reverse. Start with 31 items when you’re all enthusiastic and your house is overflowing with stuff that you can easily part with. Gradually the number of things you need to find reduces at the same time as the supply of items.

Great idea trying it that way this January I usually try to it twice a year. The second time I decided to cut the days in a bag and pull a random number or day to keep it exciting

@@Bossylady2752 Also a very fun idea. I'm on day 24 now the "classic way" starting to get difficult 🙄 Hopefully I don't get any nick-nacks this Christmas that I'll have to declutter hehe. Trying your style next time 🎅👍

I’ve suggested to my spouse that we do this challenge. I think the most difficult thing would be mustering up the energy after work to go around the house purging.
@callmekaty4 жыл бұрын
You could change the challenge to something like “purge 500 items in one month” or “125 items each week/weekend”. :)

You don't have to do a specific amount of items. Just do a tiny section or category each week. It may take you longer it doesn't matter. Just remember the goal isn't to get rid of as many things as possible, but rather keep things in your life that are useful to you and that bring you Joy and that are part of who you want to be period you can be content with what you have do not be so wasteful and remember to donate as well

This was fabulous! I would have gone from 31 to 1, once I start I can’t stop throwing things in the rubbish bin! 😂 You did fabulous though, it’s amazing how things add up, isn’t it?!

I love this idea of clean out! Don’t feel bad sweetie, about your succulents, I can’t have real plants of any kind! Poor plants shake when I walk by as they know they’re on their way to plant heaven. 😂 Outside plants thrive. Mother Nature is soo much better taking care of plants. I’m going to do your clean out plan!

Haha! Plants are so difficult. My partner is now in charge of keeping them alive. :) I let Tater play with the ball for a few days and then got rid of it when he wasn’t looking. He’s got other, bettet balls to play with. :P

I said it another video - loved the bed storage in previous and love the couch storage in this video. It is so difficult to find items every day - deeper into the challenge is when you challenge yourself to really look at items around the house.

Hi Katy, I loved the video, very clear and useful! About presents, I feel the same as you and when I got rid of two presents that my mother gave to me, she was very upset (I wasn't discreet on getting rid of them...). So I felt guilty for a while but later on I thought "So what? I don't need to keep it just to make happy other people. I need to do whatever is necessary for ME to be happy!". So I understand your concern bby keeping the presents in secret. Keep on!! 👏

FYI the hanger you got rid of at 2:48 is actually a throw or blanket hanger. You must have purchased a throw (or several) at some point.

Wow awesome declutter !! I've only wish you would actually film while tossing in the trash whatever that can't be donated just like most of the clothes you've decluttered. I struggle so much to toss whatever that can't be donated or sold haha :P
@callmekaty4 жыл бұрын
I donated or sold all of the clothes (except underwear of course!) You can also recycle fabric/clothing that is not worthy of donation.
@Math_ilda4 жыл бұрын
@@callmekaty Haha yes I meant them and clothes that would be damaged when I've wished to see going in the trash :P But I will look for the recycling if there's any in my area, maybe I would struggle less to declutter even if it still way harder for me than donating clothes that are still good but didn't wear for too long.

@@callmekaty it's ok to take it easy and slow. Even though I am a extrem minimalism I find things or stuff time to time that I don't use. You don't need to be perfect. You are enough just as you are. But it's good some times to do hard things. Hugs ❤️

This seems so wasteful :(.
@callmekaty4 жыл бұрын
It is more wasteful to hold on to things you don’t use than it is to give them to someone who will use them. You waste money by storing things you don’t need (lots of stuff = bigger mortgage/more rent). By practicing living with less you buy less in the future which leads to less waste. :)

Cleaning is wasteful? Yet u watched the video. You must be a hoarder. Yuck 😝
