Good job!!! For a young person, you have much knowledge. I'm proud of you, & I appreciate your obedience for spending more time in the word & being more aware of your faith. Time in the word,. worshipping, sitting in His presense, reading or studying the Bible is always a sacrifice & an offering to Our Lord & Savior. Well done, young lady. You did a great job! By the way, I’m in the South and my husband has two junk drawers (night stand and one dresser drawer), so I don’t think it’s a location thing 😉 I think when we don’t give every drawer a purpose, it is easy to create a junk drawer. I dont have a junk drawer but if anyone in my family attempts a homeless things pile or junk like drawer i threaten to remove their fav appendage so thats the only reason why. Like why people whhhhhhyyyyyy!? You deserve better!

Since this video, we have since rehomed most of the "junk" items into a home that makes more sense. It is more of a misc drawer now. A random drawer? I'm not sure what to call it. It has batteries and command hooks and candles haha. Same things it had in it when I was growing up so junk drawer just stuck ahah!
@welsan20743 жыл бұрын
Hi, a person with junk room here, i usually kept a bunch of broken items that most people considered trash, i usually reuse them as material if i need to fix anything. For example piping connectors, i use broken or empty pen, i use a piece of broken plastic items ( bucket, tray etc ) to cover up a hole in other item. Also a bunch of torn up clothes are used to cover hole in existing fabric items. It's far from being a minimalist, but i tried to reduce the need to put these item into dumpster so eh, idk

Great intentional practice! You asked about junk drawers - have only one drawer with random things that don't have a home elsewhere. So, I suggest you combine all the items from both drawers into just one. That way, you won't have to be wondering if the item you are looking for is in the bedroom drawer or in the kitchen drawer. It could only be in one place. (Suggestion about your spices - maybe add a shelf in your pantry, between the two shelves, because you have a lot of dead space there, just a half depth shelf, and put your spices there, as they will be at eye level, and more accessible than in the low cupboards). Great video -cute cat.

@michellerobillard40674 жыл бұрын
@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist oh ok that's a good idea on the Japanese to learn but really the other one's just get a cheap little trash can like what you put in a car and put it on the counter next to the fruit so you can throw it away right then you can even decorate the trash can to fit in with your decor or color scheme

Well done! I have been slowly decluttering over the last 3 years, but I like the idea of spending a constant amount of time, like 45 days, to declutter :) Looking forward to talking with you today at 6pm to hear more of your great tips for easy eco/sustainable choices in life in the #seekingsustainabilitylive talkshow

Kind of random, but I also have Japanese children’s workbooks I bought to help me learn lolol
@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist4 жыл бұрын
How are they working for you? I gave up with those haha
@Hmd9384 жыл бұрын
That was honestly 10 years ago and I never even attempted! I took 3 years of Japanese in high school, traveled to Fukuoka where I learned a little bit more and bought those books, and came home and honestly that was it. I still love the language but I would probably use Duolingo these days! Are you still in Japan?

I get so frustrated when people throw out things in perfectly good condition. There are so many charities and thrift stores where you can donate these items. I think it’s just laziness and people who just don’t care about our planet. I have an autoimmune disease and don’t feel well daily but I still make it a point that when I declutter to donate everything that can be reused.

Drives me nuts! If i don't feel like going one day, I wait until I can or ask someone to go for me or even give away for free on Facebook groups!

@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist exactly there’s always options. I put boxes aside and when they’re full I’ll donate them or get my husband to. I take used towels, blankets, pet accessories to our local shelter and they’re so appreciative. Things that I can’t donate I will recycle or find suitable places to take them....ie. broken electronics, cell phones, batteries, etc. If there are no options then it’s trash.

Hi from Texas, I just now saw your video, HELP ME! I never ever used to be like this at all, I used to be a really good cleaner, of my house, I have never been this bad in a very long time, my house is a cluttered horrible pathetic pathetic horrible horrible mess, I’m not a hoarder, I’m 64 years old I’m still working, probably for a long time, I’m not pitying myself I’m just so so tired, I work in a school cafeteria, and Fred children and do all kinds of things, I’m very thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ in my life, I’m so tired at the end of the day I come home and plop down and rest a bit, to tired to even cook supper, I take vitamins, I have sleep Apnea and trying to get the money together to pay my part. So I can get the machine. So on Saturdays in really really tired. I don’t want to do anything at all, I do wash clothes wash dishes, shower, and have a light meal at night, I hate this so much! I’m so so angry 😤 with my self. I loved your video, keep them coming God Bless you

Here are some things I suggest for starting your minimalism journey: First, I recommend watching the documentaries - Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things - The Minimalists: Less Is Now Both in Netflix. They really help you work around the mentality of stuff and that we don’t need a lot to be happy. Then, I suggest decluttering a small bit every day as to not overwhelm yourself. Like so small as even one drawer a day vs a whole room. And really think through your items: Do I need this? Do I even want it? How often do I use it? If I packed it away in a box would I even notice if it were gone? And so forth Then, after you’re done decluttering (might be a few weeks) then it’s time to work on consumer habits. When I shop, I shop second hand (for environmental reasons) but I still used to overconsume and buy meaningless things. So I ask myself questions like: - do I need this or even want it? - how often will I use it? - will it bring me joy or just collect dust? And so forth I hope this is a good starting point! Let me know if you have questions!

I know!! I'm so sorry about that! Good news though, in my more recent videos (like May through current), I am sure to disclaim this at the beginning, I post the script for my videos so you can follow along, AND you can change the speed of the videos using the gear icon to something that best suits you!! I hope that this doesn't hinder you too much and you can still subscribe for more content like this :)
