Some wise person advised to stop eating when 80% full. Tricky to determine! But I feel the same about drawers and closets, rooms in general. My house is so happy when it can BREATHE, just as we can without having to undo the top button on our jeans!

Thank you for the check list . It helps a lot to take a screenshot to refer back too. Horizontal surfaces is my nemesis . Slowly and surely 1 item at a time , minimalism is making many changes for the good ❤️

Hi Angela, Thank you for the great video! Useful, as usual🙂! I found out that (for me) the most pesky issues are tons of small things. Receipts, some staples, notes I need to take care of, plastic bags I need to recycle, newspapers I didn't finish reading, etc. Nothing big (the "big decluttering" has been behind me almost completely for a long time already) but the small things create the visual clutter that is my "biggy"🙂. I am very environmentally conscious, so I carefully consider how to eliminate some of those things. Throwing them into the trash would be easy; problem solved. Not for me. However, I am more conscious now, of what I bring to my home, so my visual clutter is definitely decreasing - just not fast enough. But I am aiming there, lol! Thanks again!
@ArrowHillCottage8 ай бұрын
It’s amazing how all those little things can add up visually! Good for you for recognizing it is an issue, and being mindful of how to go about finding a solution instead of just taking ‘the easy way out’ by throwing them in the trash. ❤️

I feel you should say, 'I have taught you well, Grasshopper' as I have got control of about 30 items in your list! I still have overcrowded closets but I donated a bag of clothes and threw out another bag this week so I'm getting there. I would love to change the configuration of my living room but I'm restricted with the small size. Any suggestions? BTW you're too young to remember the quote but I'm sure you understand the message. Your advice from previous videos has helped me. Thanks!

Great list that has some outside the box points. It feels weird to admit but we have no lighting in our living room so it only gets lit from the kitchen and TV. Even if we had a lamp, my partner wouldn't ever want to use it because he's sensitive to light. Now that we have a free roaming bunny (who's an avid cord chewer), it's pretty much out of the question anyway.

Wow, that would be tough for me! But if you have someone with light sensitivity, as well as a roaming bunny…I understand! ❤️

I love your videos! There really is beauty in simplicity. Quick question: How can I know if my furniture is too big or too little? I think we may have too much furniture, but I’m truly not sure. We have a small condo of around 800 square feet. Thanks again!
@ArrowHillCottage8 ай бұрын
Thank you! As far as furniture - I really think that if the scale and number of pieces is right, you’ll be able to ‘feel it’… what I would suggest if you feel that you have too much furniture…is to take a piece or two out of the room for a period of time and take note of how it feels to you. Then try putting them back in, and perhaps pull out a different piece or two. Keep trying until you get the perfect combo! ❤️

Trying to find that sweet spot balance between clean and clear and convenient. Esp in the kitchen. I do think my “shrink system” is helping a lot tho (smaller sized things). I have to say tho that by now most of my spaces feel pretty good tho. Kitchen and storage are prob the most “full” spaces. Lol. (And maybe the closet in the “cat room she cave.” Lol). Free stuff. Ha ha. I don’t go looking but this one lady who sort of comes and goes around here is always bringing me stuff. I prob only keep abt 10% of it tho. 😅😅 Decanting and eliminating labels and multi color etc is a must for me. A super great tip to instantly calm down a room. I also made the stuff that is “out” at least not clash or make my head spin. Lol. Such as small things like matching utensils I keep near the stove. And not too many of them. All the things don’t seem as cluttery Bcuz they have a similar color/style flow. Another trip to Raleigh area next week. Lol. It’s getting very real now. 😅😅 Talking to agents and maybe viewing some tiny or temp camper options. 😬😬

It’s crazy how crazy some of the packaging is! So totally ‘in your face’. Ha ha! Random lady dripping stuff off with you gave me the giggles. Thankfully you don’t keep it all! And lastly…yes! So excited for this part of the process to get really real for you! Awesome! ❤️

@@ArrowHillCottage Lol. Thanks! All the things with moving tho. Excitement. A little scary. Overwhelm. (Not used to traveling so much and it’s mostly “prepping” before I go that seems so difficult at times lol). That lady ha ha bringing all the stuff. Fortunately I keep the “donate closet” always handy so if I can’t use it I just toss it in there. And those companies really DO need to calm down with their packaging. Although I am finding some that are already more aesthetically pleasing. Some of them seem to be getting a clue. Lol.

@@ArrowHillCottage 😂😂 lmao. It’s technically a closet sized teeny bathroom where some things just don’t work well enough to use anyways other than the toilet which isn’t needed at the moment either.(As per the aforementioned sub par construction issues lol). I got it all in there. Burn barrel stuff in the shower. Donate bags and boxes. Soft plastic and battery recycle.

Thank you, Angela! I was doing great until you said... coffee mugs! Yes, way too many, but all have memories. I'm trying to eliminate them, but they iften end up hidden in plain sight on bookshelves or repurposed as pen/oencil holders. Ugh! And yes, the top of our fridge has a pasta box and on-its-side cake mix box on it right now. I didn't notice until you mentioned it. Ugh again! Very insightful of you to notice the "invisible" clutter we easily overlook. Thank you and blessings!
