Great video, but that isn't a surprise , this is the best channel on you tube for ammo reviews .

That shows how important it is to try a variety of ammo to see what your particular rifle "likes".

Thank you VERY MUCH for this VALUABLE VIDEO for me because I do have one of the early American Norinco NS 522. I'd like to try mine at 100 yds.😉👍 I'm hoping to be moving in to the country so I can shoot my 22lrs in MY BACK YARD.😃😉👍😊 30:07

I expect your NS522 has a much nicer stock on it than mine does. I hope yours is as good a shooter as mine is.

@@314299 I don't know if or how to send a picture of my rifle but UNFORTUNATELY I can't because it's stored at a Friend to keep my TOYS SECURED. I had a FIRE in my BEDROOM 1/19/23 and I lost a few of my TOYS in the FIRE. I'm living in a apartment on the 4th floor and really no room to store my stuff. BUT actually in these days and times I wouldn't want my TEMPORARY NEIGHBORS knowing that I have THOSE TYPES OF TOYS 🤔😉😵💫😖👍. They are in a SECURED AREA for the time being. I did keep 2 pistols for PROTECTION, I do have conceal carry since 2000. 😁👍

finally a shooting video, instead of buying video. I also tested many 22lr loads for my armscor 14 and the CCI standard velocity works best for me. holding an average 1.48 inch groups @ 100yards. and sub 1/2 inch @ 50. not only separating weight but also rim thickness can improve group reduction.
@31429911 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with 1.48" at 100 yards. I've not tried CCI Standard Velocity, never seen it in the local stores.
@johnutting96154 жыл бұрын
With the vertical stringing may I suggest that you have it bedded and free floated and then retest
@3142994 жыл бұрын
Rifle is already free floated. Vertical stringing may also be the result of velocity variation.

Excellent review, I bought this 22 12 years ago and finally took it out. Has nikon 22 bdc 4-12 scope . Blazers, rem vipers, sk match, elly club all shot well. I need to do the trigger mine feels really heavy . Is there a link or video of the work you've done, bedding stock and trigger I would like to do
@3142994 ай бұрын
I've done nothing to the rifle as far as bedding or trigger work, mine is 100 percent stock. I'm nervous of messing with triggers as it is possible to ruin them and make them unsafe with modifications.
@1LRLRG11 жыл бұрын
Interesting results, I need to do that sort of testing with my rifle as well.

Should do well for you, Federal .22 ammo seems to be consistently accurate.

Great video would of been nice if you would of have done a summary sheet . I'll view the video again and make my own and put a cost to them so you can select bullet by cost and accuracy
@31429911 жыл бұрын
It never even occurred to me to do something like that. Apparently I like being long and drawn out!
@bill8434511 жыл бұрын
The video was good just a summary sheet would of helped for ammo select if the most accurate wasn't what you wanted

Did you clean your barrel between groups? I've been looking for a target grade 22 for a while that does not break the bank. Down to this (which I only found last night) and a savage Mark II heavy barrell. How is the trigger on the 522?
@31429911 жыл бұрын
No, I do not clean between groups, but I do try to fire a few "conditioning" with the ammo to be tested before shooting a group with it. The trigger on the NS522 is quite decent, crisp and not too heavy. Not easily adjustable though.

i have a pack of the imperial IVI ammo its not full but there are some lead ones and some copper hollow points can you tell me if the IVI came in lead?
@31429911 жыл бұрын
IVI and Dominion ammo both had the "D" head stamp, I suspect the lead you have is older Dominion produced ammo.

I have the same rifle. It shoots way better than a .22lr has any business shooting. I think we may have bought them at the same place. Going Fishing? Mine also likes the Federal Gold Medal and Blazer. I wish I could find new mags for it though. Do you know where they can be purchased?
@3142998 жыл бұрын
Mine was bought direct from Canada Ammo. I dont know of any source of spare magazines for the NS522.

If you take the time to do this length of a video,.it must have been worth it,.I thought,...I was NOT sorry that I watched it all. Your testing proves beyond any doubt,.that all .22 ammo. is NOT made equal. By the way what make and model Scope are you using on your rifle.? Soooo I have to do some testing too,.on the best of what you used,.hopefully I can buy this stuff where I live,....now it's up to Canada Post,.to delivery my NS522 as promised,.by June.02.....can't wait ! I have liked and subscribed to this channel as of now. Thanks very much.
@31429910 жыл бұрын
Thanks for lasting through this long video, and for subscribing. The scope I have on my NS522 is a cheap one, I think the brand is "Ravage", it was about $40 at my local gun shop, not great but not bad considering the cheap price. I would likie to replace it some day with better glass.

314299 Shooting Channel I have received my NS522 from CanadaAmmo,.and only now ( about 2 weeks since received. ) have had the chance to open the box and have a look. First of all, the rifle was wrapped in plastic bagging and coated with light preserving oil,.this is a good thing. I started to clean and inspect the rifle and on closer look, I see that there is a long , ( about 1.5 inch ) 'dent' vertically in the stock right under the breech area,. also there was a .22 bullet stuck part way into the barrel, which I removed with a cleaning rod, after a couple of firm taps. ??? Everything else looks good so far,.but I do plan on chatting the the folks at CanadaAmmo,..to see what they might have to say about this. The package was not dented at all so the stock damage had to be prior to packaging. As for the bullet stuck in the barrel, this is another matter. Of course no one would ( should) ever fire any rifle without checking the bore for just such an obstruction. But I thought it odd to find this. I have never seen this in a new rifle before. I will let you know what the folks say. So far though. looks like a nice rifle, we'll see.
@31429910 жыл бұрын
Both those things were probably that way when the gun left China, one thing the Chinese dont do well is quality control, good thing you took the time to do an inspection prior to any shooting.
@regsparkes650710 жыл бұрын
314299 Shooting Channel You are correct, no doubt. I was thinking afterwards,.that where the rifle was so well packaged,.it must have been a factory issue. I am not complaining, mind you, but I though I'd mention it as a safety issue more than anything. Certainly no big deal. The NS522 is a nice looking rifle for sure, and I sure would recommend to anyone to order one as soon as they can. Thanks for replying too. Cheers
