When I was 18 I bought a 70 model road runner from my Mom for 600 bucks, it was in perfect condition, 6months later it had a 4sp instead of auto, I put a positive track rear end in it out of a 60 model dodge truck, it went under the leaf springs and that set it up perfect in the back, No Air shocks needed, Took the 11in clutch and pressure plate out of the old truck and that baby was right, 383magnum, have no Idea what gears i was running but it really set that car a side from the rest, It weighed 3800lb, I put tires off a jeep Cherokee, 16in snow tires, Dropped the air pressure down to 20lb, I drilled holes in the rims and put wood screws in threw the rim into the tire where they seal, To keep from spinning inside the tire and it going flat, Last thing you want is a tire coming off spinning over 100mph, Been there done that,lol, not pretty, Anyway when I really laid it on, I could pull the left front tire 16in off the ground, Two more than the right side, First time Broke Motor a mount , Hey we were poor, A Chain did the job, To this Day that car holds the record for the baddest ride ever in these parts, Its a legend around here, Was never out run, Honest Truth, unless you would count me racing a fast back and my clutch was burned out, He did get me that day, The next week i half tracked him in a quarter mile, Hell we were so poor that i would take two burned out clutches and take the pads off the good side and put them on another one and used roofing tacks for rivets, Hey it worked,,I did go through a lot of clutches, Best memories of my life, Especially when my Grand son ask me how i knew it was blue when everything was (Black and White) when i was young, First real Heart to Heart with my Grand Baby, I said Son it was Simple , It said so on the inside Door Panel,,,,Lol Great Days!

Remember it like yesterday. Stood with the Mancini Boys watching this cacophony of rubber smoke, and the looks on peoples faces. Its a downriver crowd. I knew most of them had no idea what a 426 HEMI on steroids', was capable of doing. That day was a true testament to Mancini/Godfather Racing. Lots of fun. Would have been better if we could have cruised down to Sibley and Dix, for timeslips. RIP Dan, and Detoit Dragway.

@omgwtf440 thanks, there are 2 68's roadrunners in the video and 2 69's and these cars can be seen in other videos on youtube doing better burnouts by typing in Dawg House or Godfather Racing in the search, there just not HD. You haft to remember that safety always comes first when there's a lot of people around and this is not a competition, as you can see it's just for fun!!!!

Yeah, to protect the tires. How does it sound to you buying new tires for each show?
@thomas43154 жыл бұрын
Sound do the burnout the other way. Empty grass field pass the fence. But That a high speed busy road if your throttle get stuck or you bounce off a car and get on the hwy high speed impact. Logic keep you alive pass 30
@Swoldemort50011 жыл бұрын
what size rear tire?
@pdq34013 жыл бұрын
Lotsa people with a big tire budget + Linelock (or wasted rear brakes). My 340 car won't spin the rear tires. Every time I try, it just lifts the front tires (I'm not kidding). Still, the hemi cars were nice. :)
