To the 32 battalion veterans this is holy ground. Our other bases we had in the old South West Africa had a similar fate and all that is left is ruins and rubble.

As a Sapper I was stationed at Buffalo from 82/83.We made the cement borders for the graves which were previously just mounds of sand

...it's the ones still living in asbestos town (Pomfret) that makes me feel sick to the core the way they have been left to die. A more loyal band of brothers one will never find. To those in this video RIP, you were truly "Forged in Battle" .

Thanks for sharing this video. It is poignant, and haunting. Those derelict military graves are just so wrong.

Thanks! Yes, agreed. No matter who fought against who, at least respect their last resting place. Everyone fought for a cause they believed in.

No just de Klerk...there were other 'verraiers' such as C Viljoen, P Botha, R Meyer to name but a few. So upsetting all the nameless graves, and never to be named....dying an anonymous death....32 Battalion who bled for RSA was in the end only a pawn and used as a political bargaining tool...no longer wanted nor desired in either Namibia or South Africa and in the end were thrown to the wolves after being at the sharp end of the war. Rather I just shut up....just upsetting myself all over again.

At 7:57 - Ride to Agadir was requested by Charl Muller (killed at Savate May 1980) to be played at his funeral. Several operators requested it since then. Nella was killed in March 1982 during Ops Super.

The Elundu base was shared between 32 BN and 54 BN. No mention is ever made of Elundu. I know 'cos I was there Jan to Apr '79.

Sorry to say but your info regarding lt. JPS Nel HC is incorrect. The song was lt. C de J Muller's favourite. He was KIA on 21 May 1980 during Ops. Tiro tiro.

I was born 1995, please balance me how/why were they sold out ?
@ianhinrichsendrummer21132 жыл бұрын
@@Ndumiso1995 Sold out means they were called upon by the then government of SA to face the sharp edge of battle to fight for that government, and then, when it suited that government, they were left to die in a town called Pomfret in the Northern Cape, and forgotten about - All the sacrifices made by men of valour and dumped and forgotten about. It's a crying shame and the ultimate betrayal.

@@ianhinrichsendrummer2113 They were black, what were they expecting from a white men.
@ianhinrichsendrummer2113 Жыл бұрын
@@mihlayonke That's a racist statement my friend. Think before you write. How do you think the parents of white teenage boys who died in that war felt? - they were also sold out - their sons died for nothing. Every single male who fought for SA , was sold out - by the government. The army didn't sell them out, the government did. In fact they were visited in Pomfret often by 32 BN founder Col. J. Breytenbach. The ANC were scared of them. One of the guys in my platoon was killed along with about 5 others from 1 SAI BN and others who were in that Ratel that day - 15th March or April in a PLAN ambush - how do you think his parents felt, and all the others who died that day? All in all, as far as I can remember, about 9 soldiers died that day in one ambush.
@mihlayonke Жыл бұрын
@@ianhinrichsendrummer2113 I get your point, but you said they were left behind and forgotten, were there any white soldiers who were left in Pomfret too?

Your government murdered your people - 32 were trying to protect but then again it depends on whether you consider unarmed villagers with nothing living in the semi dessert as "brothers" - if not then it is pribably ok to kill them with their children looking on huh bravs warrior?
