Hi Hanako, it's ok, everyone indulges during the holidays. If you're worried about mayo not being healthy, you can make it yourself! The recipe my family uses is 1/2 cup canola oil, 1/4 cup milk, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard. And to make japanese mayo you just add some sugar and use rice wine vinegar instead. :) it tastes the exact same when used. Hope this helps

Don't worry Hanako, we all put on weight during winter holidays, because we need confort food to face the cold weather !! Just a couple of tricks ! Mayo is quite faty, but you can replace it with yogourt mixed with a bit of mustard. I also noticed you were struggling with you carrots ^^ In France we have carottes rapées, and the sauce we use is just olivus oil and lemon juice, along with some chives. Healthy and delicious ! Good luck on your weight loss journey, the most important is to keep the balance in your meals anyway :)

Everyone indulges over the holidays- whether cooking a meal for people we love who came by, or those visitors bringing along treats to share to show love for us, food is another way we share our love for each other. And since we see so many people in a short time, it's very normal to put some weight on. Nothing to feel guilty about at all. As long as you're getting proper nutrients in you, a bit of mayo, or chocolate, or even a weekend treat of tempura aren't worth worrying over. Besides, the more you try and cut out every last bit of food that may be less healthy, the more chance that when you go back to them, you'll eat yourself sick because of how much you missed the taste. So a bit of mayo AND some oil to cook carrots is perfect- you get the tastiness you love, but you're still being healthier! You win on both!
@hanakoskitchen8868 Жыл бұрын

I eat both the noodles and the ready made rice but haven't even thought that I could do that myself if I need rice and only have noodles. I will do that since I way too many noodles compared to rice right now and I tend to like the rice a bit more. Wow, what an amazing video thank you very much. I love the last one especially. I’m from the UK and I have to say I’d like the shallow fried chicken which is something that I do at home but I do it slightly differently. I don’t know if you wanted to try it. Chicken breast is cut into pieces Basically you would marinade the chicken in the sauce beforehand because it be so moist, you wouldn’t need the egg to bind any cornflower, which will make it crispy. Extra-virgin olive oil is considered really healthy over in the UK. So in the marinade, I have soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, Mirrin, salt, pepper, are use dry, mixed herbs, some dried ginger, (so this is like powder), and some chives. I mix altogether with the chicken so everything is covered and as for amounts well I will be honest I don’t measure out, but you can say 1 tablespoon of the wet and 1 teaspoon of the dry. I’ll try and have some of the sauce leftover because then I can cook with it when I’ve added the cornflower. Once I’m ready to use it and marinade it at least 30 minutes but I like doing it overnight and then put my cornflower in a container because I’m quite messy. Unfortunately you’re very tidy and I will individually put the pieces in mix some of the cornflower and then shallow fry them for 2 to 3 minutes each side until the chicken is cooked. I like almond, egg fried rice with we call it spring onion, but I think around the world uses different terms so I think you call it green onion and it is really lovely and filling if you ever do try and let me know what you think. Because it’s shallow fried, it’s healthy because there’s not as much oil. For the almonds, I actually cook it before everything, and then I lamb on a paper trail, so the excess oil can drain away before we adding it to the rice. And yes, I do add soy sauce to the rice as well. I’ve cooked this for my colleagues at work, some of which are Japanese and I’ve got asked the recipe nine times out of 10

Thank you for sharing your information with me how to make it in such detail!! Sounds so delicious and I'm getting hungry, haha. I would love to try it!! But due to my lack of English skills, there are some things I don't understand, so can I ask you some questions? ①”but you can say 1 tablespoon of the wet and 1 teaspoon of the dry. I’ll try and have some of the sauce leftover because then I can cook with it when I’ve added the cornflower.” I would appreciate it if you could give me a little more detail on this part. ② How do you eat marinated chicken? Do you eat it with fried rice, or do you cut it into small pieces and mix it with fried rice? or eat separately. I understand this is a troublesome so I'd appreciate if you can give me the answers to these questions at your free time. Thank you so much for doing this, A E Robinson!!

Thank you so much for this video! I have often wondered whether bentos are also lower in calories and healthier. Here in Germany it is not so easy or usual to make bentos. Some ingredients are not so easy to get. Konjac noodles or cod roe, for example, are not everywhere and they are often very expensive. Or such thinly sliced pork. I have never seen this here in Germany. You see, I would have to improvise a lot. But I would like to try it out and your videos inspire me a lot.

its really easy to gain weight after a holiday, but don't feel bad about it. eat in moderation and do low intensity workouts if you aren't a big fan of working out (walking, and i highly suggest growwithjo, her workouts are low intensity but effective) and goodluck

I'm a little later than usual to see the video more ok- ,but it's for a good reason, my boyfriend had to go to Japan for family matters and I took the opportunity to come along, to be honest it's not as cold as I imagined lol It's hotter here than where I live

Hi, Clara~!! How wonderful!! I think the day before you gave me your comment, it snowed in Tokyo. I'm happy for you because it was so warm the next day! How long have you been in Japan? Did you have a good time? I hope you made great memories in Japan!

Never heard of shirataki rice, but I know rice has a lot of carbs and boy do I love rice. But I also want to lose weight, and I think I might try this out. If you also want another weight loss tip, try to reduce your sugar intake. Once I started I realized just how much sugar most foods have, and along with daily exercise, started to see results. It's tough at first but your body will thank you!

Thank you for sharing your information with me, Ariannasv22!! Actually, sugar is often used in Japanese cuisine. When I read your comment, I again realized it's important to reduce sugar,so when I run out of sugar I'm using now, I think I'll replace it with Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener. Lakanto is a little expensive though...😭

I love watching all of youre videos and how much time you put into them... but I don't know if you know but you should probably use two diffrent types of cutting boards, when you put vegies and other things on the same cutting board the bacteria from the chicken and other raw meat or fish items get onto it and can be dangerous to eat, I'm sorry if I am telling you something you already know though-
@hanakoskitchen8868 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your concern, Scarlette!! I cut the scene in the video but after cutting the meat, I always disinfect the cutting board before using it. But you're right, it might be better to use a different cutting board. Thank you very much for your kindness!! You're such a kind person!!

do plant-based proteins like tofurky work for the ham cutlet you made?
@hanakoskitchen8868 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. I don't think ham cutlet contains plant-based proteins. It's different from the usual way to make it, just grill it in the oven instead of deep-frying it. I hope this will help. Thank you.

I love seeing healthier bentos but try to avoid sugar as much as possible. Sugar is a big problem - bigger than (vegetable) fat. And try to reduce meat as far as possible too. Especially pork or beef. I wish you all the best with your diet.

Dear Hanako, please remember it is okay to eat delicious food over the holidays, everyone does it and you make happy memories with family and nice food :) Your weight is the least importantie thing about you, and as long as you are healthy and happy it doesn’t matter how much you weigh at all. Don’t beat yourself up, you are gorgeous :)

How does your shirataki rice get sticky?

Thank you for your question. When shirataki is cooked with rice, the shirataki rice naturally becomes sticky. I hope this helps😊
