I realize that walls, windows etc effect the transmission distance of the sensors. What I was wondering is does elevation adversely effect transmission distance. My back yard is surrounded by trees which greatly shield it from winds. My front yard is fairly open so my plan was to put the sensor unit on a pole, maybe 16 to 18' off of the ground. (4-5 meteres)

Hey Wayne, our 327-1414W station can support additional Thermo-Hygro Senors, model TX141TH-BCHV3, which have multi-channel controls. Unfortunately, it cannot display readings from multiple TX141W Wind Sensors. I notice that it seems corrosion on the terminals seems to be a major issue. Would the use of dielectric grease help and take care of the problem?

Hey Clarence, a thin coat of dielectric grease can help, along with wrapping some Teflon around the sensor’s threads before screwing the cover back on. For the most accurate measurements, the wind sensor should be mounted above the tallest structure in your area, clear for at least 50 feet in all directions. Obstructions such as walls, trees, rooftops, and more can often interfere with your wind speed values.

Can this work with an accessory that is wireless and waterproof that measures temperature? I have a wood fired outdoor hot tub close by and would love to know the temperature from indoors, wirelessly. Is there a channel that will accept this, and where can I get such an accessory?

Unfortunately, this 327-1414W model station does not offer a water temperature option. For something like this, the simplest solution would be to pick up our 331-09667V2 Pool Thermometer & Display: www.lacrossetechnology.com/products/331-09667v2 which is completely wireless and offers a floating waterproof sensor for inside your hot tub. Another option would be to upgrade to one of our newer Wi-Fi-connected weather stations to receive all of your weather and hot tub data on one display. What type of C lithium batteries can I use for the outside wind sensor? As soon as the cold weather hit, the sensor batteries died quickly. They are very confusing online. Is it just any C lithium batteries? They are expensive and I don't want to get the wrong ones. Thanks and I look forward to hearing for you

On my wind sensor LTV-W1 outside, the blue light is no longer flashing and is just a solid blue. The display in the house just shows dashes. What does the solid blue light mean? I checked the batteries on the sensor and they are still strong. What do I need to do to get the sensor working again? It has been working for a long time. Thank you.

I got the station for this Christmas (2023). It has been up and running for 5 days now. I had to move the Weather station in the house from one location to another, approximately 1 foot, making sure I did not unplug it. I lost contact with the sensor out side? I have 3 "AAA" batteries in the station and 2 "C" batteries in the out door sensor. It's a new install so the batteries are about 1 week old. Brought in the outdoor sensor and took the "C" batteries out and put them back in and then pressed the down arrow for 5 seconds on the indoor weather station. Red light flashing on the sensor. The sensor reception icon (on the weather station) showing it's searching for the sensor but then it stops searching and the sensor is still not connected?

Since replacing the weather station C83100, the new station recognizes the wind sensor LTV_W1 and the station is connected to internet, however the wind speed shows but the direction will only display north and no other direction.

Hi Lionel, we're happy to hear your station is up and running correctly. The C83100's wind direction though is actually a feature provided by AccuWeather, not from any of your sensors. This, along with your forecast icons, daily highs and lows, and chance of precipitation values will update 4-6 times a day with new Internet data. Our team is constantly making updates to improve these capabilities as well as their accuracy. We hope to have this resolved soon.

Hi. I have the V30v2 station. My neighbour has the same one. His wind sensor seems to take over the one I have and his sensor ID number shows up on my station, along with the data. How do I freeze his sensor out? I suppose I shouldn't worry as the data is accurate. Any thoughts on this? Thanks Barry

Hey Barry, sorry for the trouble. There are a few ways to approach this. 1) If you're happy with the data the wind sensor is providing, you could continue to both use the same sensor for wind speed readings, this will allow you to keep one as a backup should it be needed down the road. Though you'll need to have him share that sensor with you if you'd like the data in your La Crosse View app (more on how to do that is covered in our other video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oorOhGuPa79oisU). Option 2) If you'd prefer to each use your separate sensors, you'll need to delete his sensor's ID on your weather station display in order for it to begin picking up yours. What if you’re replacing batteries and the red light doesn’t flash? I’m having that issue now. Thought it was dead batteries but I replaced with new C batteries and the red light did not blink and wind speed is not picking up on the display. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey Michael, we are truly sorry for the wind sensor trouble. Our first suggestion would be to bring the sensor inside next to the display and clean the battery contacts as best as you can. After this, install a new set of alkaline batteries into the sensor and reset the display by removing all power, pressing any button at least 25 times, and leave it sit without power for about 10 minutes. After this time, power the display back up. Your sensor should reconnect automatically within the next 10 minutes. If it does, we then recommend wrapping some Teflon tape around the sensor’s threads before screwing the cover back on. This should help keep any water and excess moisture out of the battery compartment that can sometimes cause these sorts of problems.. I have my weather station in my back yard, we have a huge tree not too far away but the unit still spins and works well in the southern direction. What happens as the cold weather hits and trees snow flies? I fear that it will be covered in snow and it won’t be spinning well, being made of plastic this could crack I’m thinking? Anyone else have any experience with the cold snowy winters?

The sensor was designed to withstand all normal weather conditions, including snow. However, it can be convenient to have it mounted in an accessible location to brush off any snow buildup that may occur under the right situations (snowfall with little wind). As for the tree, we'd recommend getting the sensor as far away as possible to prevent inaccurate wind speed readings and large clumps of heavy snow potentially taking out the sensor; an open area is ideal.

I just opened up my unit and plugged it in. Even before putting the batteries in the the wind sensor it shows the outside temp (-4.2 which I think is accurate). The problem is that I have not but batteries in the wind sensor yet. Where is it getting this temp from?

Hey Tim, this is almost surely a sensor from a neighboring home. If you can provide your product model number (printed on the back of the main display) we'd be happy to send you specific instructions as to how to get this synced with your own sensor. Though, if the data appears to be accurate, we do have many users who choose to share the sensor info with their neighbors. Keeping other Temp/Humidity sensors as backups or using them in other areas of their home.

Thanks for the quick reply! Ya, it must be a neighbors that I’m picking up. I figured out how to search the channels and was able to connect to my wind gauge…which I just installed and Is working great (-4.2C with 19.5 kmh winds….was a little chilly to install)

"OUTDOOR %" & "OUTDOOR C" DISPLAY NIL VALUES "--%" & "-- deg.C." I originally set up the sensor outside, and seem to be receiuving a wind-strength (albeit very low, as there's very little wind now). I now have two units sitting next door to each other inside the house for over 15 mins. to see if it is a 'hand-shaking' problem .... no change. Wind speed now shows "--.-" despite blowing at rotors for 30 secs. Inside temp. & % functions appear to be workling. Red-light is flashing on outside unit. whaT'S UP HERE?

Ladies & G'em: Many tks yr precise instructions. IT NOW WORKS! Having originally installed it according to the manual more-or-less, might I suggest that you include the (rectifying) sequence you gave me as Step 1 in the next reprint of the manual? Also in the video-tutorial. Seems to me clearing the memory and getting a good 'handshake' are fundamental. Fingers-crossed for taking the sensor outdoors!

High and Low Temperature and Humidity alerts will need to be manually set and activated; instructions for this can be found on pages 10-11 of our 327-1414W manual here: bit.ly/327-1414w_manual -- Trend arrows, on the other hand, will trigger when the correct conditions are met. For instance, they will update every 15 minutes, comparing data over the past hour. If the temperature has changed by 2°F/1°C or more or humidity by 3%RH or more, an arrow will display that change's direction. Does display light stay on?

Hey Patricia, when using the provided power cord, the display's backlight can remain constantly and is controlled using the LIGHT (HI-LO-OFF) button on top. When using batteries along, the light will only come on for about 10 seconds at a time after a button push. Our first suggestion would be to try a basic restart by brining the sensor inside next to the display and following the steps covered here: bit.ly/basic_restart -- Be sure to use a new set of reputable alkaline batteries, other battery types can have transmission issues. Another thing, if you've been using this a while, please check the sensor's battery contacts and clean them as best as you can before performing the restart steps. If the contacts are a little rusted or if there's other evidence that moisture had built up inside the sensor's battery compartment, wrapping some Teflon tap around the sensor's threads before putting the cover back on can help to prevent this moving forward. I think the product itself is very well made. The thing that I would like to see is stainless steel screws and mounting bolt. The price is high for this weather station so all the parts should be of the best quality. I live on the ocean and want this weather station to last without its hardware rusting away.

Hi Eugenia, the display's backlight can be adjusted using the LIGHT (HI-LO-OFF) button on the top. Each press should adjust the light level when using the power cord. Battery power only will only keep the backlight on for 10 seconds at a time. More specifics on this can be found on page 11 of your full manual here: bit.ly/327-1414w_manual

My wind speed isn't working. I changed the batteries on everything. My system is just 15 months. The metal where the c batteries toch at the bottom are rusted. I am so sad this stopped functioning. Any suggestions?

We are truly sorry for the wind sensor trouble. Our first suggestion would be to bring the sensor inside next to the display and clean the battery contacts as best as you can. After this, install a new set of alkaline batteries into the sensor and reset the display by removing all power, pressing any button at least 25 times, and leave it sit without power for about 10 minutes. After this time, power the display back up. Your sensor should reconnect automatically within the next 10 minutes. If it does, we then recommend wrapping some Teflon tape around the sensor’s threads before screwing the cover back on. This should help keep any water and excess moisture out of the battery compartment. If, however, the sensor does not reconnect, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Mine rusted out also. Batteries were still good. I think it's a design flaw. Only the bottom contact were affected. That area was moist. Got a new one today, so I'll tape around the batteries and hope this time it'll be alright. Cheers

After inserting brand new batteries into my LTV-W1, I don't get a red flashing light. I get a blue light that flashes once. I have been unsucessfull in getting a connection to this device even after the reset steps. I do have a connection though to the LTV-R3. Very frustrating.

I'm also thinking I need a separate sensor for outside temperature? Am I correct on these 2 assumptions? I have been unable to get AccuWeather connected. When I go to may app screen, even following all your video instructions, I don’t find that icon to click on. I'd really like to get this functioning. My LaCrosse counter device has the screen location for it. Thanks

I believe the outside temperature sensor does not work. I have performed multiple resets as set out in the operators manual. Batteries have been changed and tested before instalation and the outdoor temperature readings are wrong.

This is the same for any radio signal, walls, electronics, and other objects can all affect reception. In most cases for each wall, floor, or window the signal must pass through the reception distance is roughly cut in half, not often will this be fully "blocked".

The display should start showing weather forecast icons upon powerup, with the predictions becoming more and more accurate over time. My rain gauge worked one time on the initial set up. I went back 2 weeks later after taking the batteries out to try to reconnect with the station and it won’t reconnect. I’ve tried to power off the station completely both batteries and AC power and power it back up again and it still isn’t communicating with the rain gauge. The batteries are all correct as far as polarity. I do get the Wi-Fi signal right by the word rain but I still do not see any zeros or it doesn’t work when I trigger the rain gauge.

These conditions can sometimes cause inflated temperature readings while using the TX141W sensor. If not, you can always try a side-by-side test by bringing the sensor inside next to the display for a few hours and comparing the readings on the display to those of the sensor. After it does reconnect, leave it sit next to the display for about 10-15 minutes before moving it back outside. If it loses connection with the display again, this could be a location issue, as certain types of windows and walls can either reflect or absorb this transmission signal. Trying a new sensor and/or station location can oftentimes help resolve this issue. .@@lacrossetechnology. Tried this, worked for about half hour. checked the new batteries with meter and they read 1.5 volts. The unit is mounted on top of the roof on HD antenna pipe above the trees , This is happened twice now.

You may be viewing channel two or three (used for additional separate temp/humidity sensors). Press the DOWN ARROW button a few times to cycle through these channel options. I've had mine for a year and I'm baffled why the battery terminals are made of cheap metal that rust,when outside,instead of stainless steel. Had to change batteries because of poor construction of unit.

I have worked for hours and hours and hours trying to get the wind sensor to connect and the WIFI to connect...We did once today get the wind sensor to work but now after removing batteries unplugging the display it still will not connect and they are setting side by side and by the router. I can get WIFI but no internet...once the display connected but fiddling with the settings and such it disconnected again. WIFI signal is still flashing. We do live in an aluminum sided home and the units are no more than 60 feet from each other. Temperature and rain gauge work fine and the blue light on the Wind sensor is lit. This model is NO longer supported or sold and I just purchased it Dec 8th 2021. Model #V30v2...rather disappointed with this unit at this time.

If your outdoor temperature reading is between these values, the Feels Like Temp will display the same as the outdoor reading. Also, wind chill readings will only begin to factor in if there is at least a 5mph (8kph) sustained wind speed. Varying speeds below this will likely give the same Feels Like value as the current outdoor temp. Hi JC, if your station does not have a white sticker with a barcode, it's unlikely that it offers WiFi connectability. Hey Judy, "Provisioning Mode" simply means that the station/display is searching for a WiFi connection. This is typically indicating by a flashing WiFi Icon on the display. You're correct! This model does not connect to the Internet and therefore does not have the ability to send data to an app. However, we do have a variety of other connected stations that do. If I would have known it doesn't show wind direction or barometer ( The two most important factors about weather) I wouldn't have purchased this piece of junk. La Crosse has left a bad taste on my mouth that will last for a long time ! Typical corporate rip off ! "Pretty package and no content" FAIL !

I just called LaCrosee Technology to request I get instructions to return, for repair of a station model 327-1414W, mentioned above. I guess I called the wrong number as all I was told is that "We don't do that here" You have to call tech support..after that I was offered ZERO assistance. No phone number or any other help, just silence... just seemed like I was bothering the guy that was on the phone! So sorry to bother LaCrosse Technology..you have absolutely set a new LOW LEVEL for policy in helping customers! You cannot get any worse than the experience I received. LaCrosse policy; Answer phone, say , Not, not my department.....appear to be totally not interested in why I called; (LaCrosseemployee; remain silent, offer no assistance, offer no other phone number to contact, remain silent again....remember company policy by remaining silent and offering NO, repeat NO assistance. Way to go LaCrossse!!! You're number ONE for helping your customers!!! WOO HOOO!

Does it matter what channel the outside temp is on. I have new batteries in my sensor but there are no readings on the monitor.

Hey Brain, if you're not using separate add-on temp/humidity sensors (model: TX141TH-BCH), please be sure to keep the station set to Channel 1 using the DOWN arrown button. The included TX141W wind sensor will always use channel 1.
