Hey, I have a question. I bought this station and love it...but was wondering if I needed to bring in the wind sensor during the winter because of ice...or should it be okay?
@lacrossetechnology3 жыл бұрын
It can be helpful to have the wind sensor mounted in an accessible location, to remove any snow or ice buildup. However, the sensor itself was designed to be outside all year round and should have no trouble working in the winter.

Is the temperature sensor weather proof, meaning is it ok to be in the rain??
@lacrossetechnology5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gregory, unfortunately no. The separate TH (Thermo-Hygro) sensor should always be protected from direct weather elements (rain/snow/sun). We typically recommend under an eave on a north facing for best results, as covered at the 7:02 mark in this video. Though, if you do not have a great location that offers this, our Sensor Weather Shield may be something to look into: www.lacrossetechnology.com/925-1418-sensor-weather-shield -- as it will help protect the sensor from rain and snow. However, we do always recommend mounting it in a 100% shaded location for the most accurate temperature readings. Your wind sensor on the other hand, is built to hand all normal weather conditions and should be mounted on the highest point around your home, or in an open area. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

327-1417 Color Wind Speed Weather Station. I just purchased the other day and have two issues. I put the sensor on a north wall outside under the roof overhang but it seems the hot air gets trapped under the overhang so it shows an inaccurate temperature. Also the wind sensor has lost connection a couple times a day for 15-20 minutes at a time then it comes back.
@lacrossetechnology2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, sorry for the trouble! If you believe you're getting inaccurate outdoor temp readings, you are free to move the sensor to a different fully shaded, well-ventilated, location that offers protection from direct weather elements (rain, snow, etc.). Our other video here: bit.ly/inaccurate_temp_readings goes into this topic more and covers how to perform a test to make sure the sensor is within tolerance. In regard to your wind sensor losing connection, please be sure the sensor is within range and that you are using a new set of reputable alkaline batteries for best results. The wireless range for the sensor is 330ft in the open air, for each wall, window, or floor this radio signal must pass through this signal distance is roughly cut in half. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you should need further assistance, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page.

Purchased early summer 2020 - worked fine. Windspeed indicator stopped two days ago. Batteries (C cell) low so replaced. Still no windspeed or history showing. No DC power getting through from C-cells. Contacts rusty - looks like water has settled in base. What to do now?
@lacrossetechnology3 жыл бұрын
Hey Doug, we are truly sorry for the wind sensor trouble. Our first suggestion would be to bring the sensor inside next to the display and clean the battery contacts as best as you can. After this, install a new set of alkaline batteries into the sensor and reset the display by removing all power, pressing any button at least 25 times, and leave it sit without power for about 10 minutes. After this time, power the display back up. Your sensor should reconnect automatically within the next 10 minutes. If it does, we then recommend wrapping some Teflon tape around the sensor’s threads before screwing the cover back on. This should help keep any water and excess moisture out of the battery compartment. If, however, the sensor does not reconnect, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for further assistance. Our apologies again for this inconvenience.

I received my wind station as a gift yesterday. I have it all set up and all is paired and functioning except the wind history and direction display is missing the top part of the numerals. The tops of SSE (as example) and the top of the numeral for the hourly max are invisible. Is there a fix?
@lacrossetechnology3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, sorry to hear this. Please try the following steps to help get things working correctly: 1. Remove all power from your display. Including batteries and unplugging the power cord from both your wall and from your display. 2. Press any button on the display at least 25 times and leave it sitting without power for at least two hours. 3. Power the display back up by plugging the power cord into your outlet first, then into your display. If your model uses AA or AAA batteries, be sure to install a new set of alkaline batteries, other battery types should be avoided. Your sensor(s) should sync back up within the next 10 minutes. If this does not resolve the issue, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page for further assistance. Hey Sindy, our apologies for the trouble. We'd first recommend bringing the wind speed sensor inside next to the display and perform a basic restart. The steps for this are covered on our support page here: bit.ly/basic_restart -- be sure to use a new set of regular alkaline batteries, other types can often have transmission issues. If these steps still don't allow the sensor to connect, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. how long does the batteries last on the wind sensor outside

My new station has connected to the outdoor sensor and the wind sensor and both are displaying. However it is not displaying indoor temperature, feels like temperature or top wind speed. Any ideas?
@lacrossetechnology5 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Our first recommendation would be to perform a basic restart, covered in our video here: bit.ly/LaxTech_BasicRestart (making sure to use alkaline batteries only). However, two deviations from this process would be to let the station sit without power for about 2 hours instead of the 15 minutes, and when powering it back up, make sure to plug the power cord into the outlet first before plugging the cord into the display. If the problem continues, please reach out to our support staff here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport or message us on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page. My windspeed is not showing 0 mph. It is just showing two dashes. How do I make sure the sensor is connected?
@lacrossetechnology2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lonny, try moving the sensor inside next to the display and installing a new set of regular alkaline batteries. After this, Hold down the WIND button on the display until you see the reception icon start animating. While it's searching, try spinning the wind cups to ensure the wind sensor is transmitting some data. It should connect within the next few moments. If not, try a full factory restart by pressing and holding down both the LIGHT and ALERTS buttons down together until the station beeps and clears. It should then begin searching for the sensor(s) again automatically. If this still does not get the wind sensor working, please message our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Hey Charlees Dad, our apologies for any trouble. The calculations for this station’s weather icons are based on its internal barometric pressure reading. Keep in mind, these icons are designed to display a prediction of your weather to come within the next 6-12 hours, not necessarily your current conditions. And because the weather can be a hard thing to predict, even for professionals, we cannot claim these to be 100% accurate. For most of our stations, these predictions fall between 60% and 80% accuracy after the first ten days from the initial startup. If you're still within these first 10 days, the weather icon calculations may not be adjusted to your location just yet. Over time, these should become more accurate. One other thing to note, if you're located in an area that is above 6200ft elevation, these icons will likely not act correctly. If you fall in this category, please reach out to us here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport. Or alternatively, send us a private message on our Facebook: bit.ly/LaxTech_Facebook or Twitter: bit.ly/LaxTech__Twitter page. From there, we'd love to help in any way we can. I read the directions and watched this video. I just bought this at Walmart about an hour ago. No where did I see anything about adjusting the screen brightness? The screen is so dim you can't see it. You can press the light button and it lights up. But it turns off in a moment and you can't see again. I thought that the light was adjustable from Hi to Lo to off? That's what it says in the printed instructions, but doesn't tell you how to enter the settings and save them?
