Might as well be the best tutorial ever.

if you automate the reverb diffusion network and gain on the limiter you can also have some cool results

That's a nice technique, and i use it quite often! But i think the bouncing effect could be more realistic if you go for granular resynthesis instead of chainging the loop lenght into the sampler; that's because you may want the tail of the previous trigger to overlap a little bit the new one to avoid that kind of hard sync effect (which is supercool anyway!). It's pretty easy to achieve that with Max, PD, Csounds or other lenguages, but you can do that also just using a good granular synth such as Alchemy. Good tutorial, keep on!

this is true! but judging from the title i think he's trying to show how Aphex Twin made similar sounds a couple decades ago, nowadays you could just as easily mic an actual bouncing ball and run it through a MIDI trigger with a kick sample on it!
@TuningFreak2313 жыл бұрын
thanks man , I was wondering how to do that , but not with a kick , I use a leadsynth instead

Cool, Granular Synthesis before Granular synthesis ^^

LOL granular synthesis isn't just any sample with the loop really shortened.

heh gantz graf, that's what it reminded me of too when I heard it. Man these videos are fantastic, there are about a billion dubstep tutorials on the web and nothing on more experimental / idm stuff, so very glad I found this. :-) Would you say it's just as easy to do this in other daws too such as logic?

@konjunktion26 I don't think it's either one. Live is a whole different way of working then most DAWs. You only work in one window which is a plus. The interface is clean and the plugins are decent quality, very few gimmicks. I find it VERY stable and easy to use. I use to complain when I missed a feature from another DAW... But you get over that part after a while. The file browser is my favorite compared to others. Good luck!

@konjunktion26 Live is just like any other DAW, it's only a "Tool" to get a job done. It's hard to rate it on a scale. Live is fantastic for electronic music production. But for recording bands... one might find Cubase or Logic more ideal.

I learned this from FPC on FL Studio. Considering it comes prepackaged with "Glitch/IDM" drum midis.

@konjunktion26 My two cents is that I bought Ableton because I found it to be the least painful DAW to use. That said, it still sounds quite digital, and you can make plenty of mistakes to screw up your sound. Fact is, I'm still waiting to hear any softsynth that beats my real keyboards. II can spend ages trying to make a softsynth decent and still not get there, and when I play the real thing, the sound is instantly more pleasant. That said, softsynths are far easier to sequence.

@jodorowsky182 Thanks! I'm seriously not sure where it came from, some of the samples are like 5 years old and I must have thousands of kick drums! You can have the kick by downloading my project file.

Pretty cool works in Ableton 11 even still, but I noticed when it gets to really small sample size on mine it stops making it any smaller than a certain size and can't get the quite super tiny and barely there effect that is the video because of it.

aw man I thought you actually were making one that sounds like AT's work,,, do a video when you add the modulating flangers and top secret stuff ontop, those are what make this effects LIVE :)
