So the problem was the auxiliary air valve was stuck wide open resulting into a very lean air and fuel mixture during warm-up phase. Job well done, your video was very clear. Thanks for posting.

Putting it in a pan of boiling water (120f /100c) for 8-10 mins. Try this next time, works without any damage to housing. Also works to dismatel seized older brake pistons.

Wow, that was nice, thanks for presenting. The sound of the V8 is like music. Your shop has a great set-up as well. So I am guessing that any parts like this that connect and need to move can get clogged with airborne stuff that eventually builds up on surfaces and have to be cleaned every so often. Yes? What is the equivalent of this valve in the 85 380SL and subsequent 560SL?

Nice work. I had the same idling problem with my 1971 350SL M116 engine and D-jetronic. I took the easier way to solve the problem and put a plastic plug with 8 mm hole in it inside the upper rubber hose. And now it idles steady 800 rpm. Of course this would cause a problem when trying to idle car in winter temps but I only use it summer time so it is no issue for me. Maybe I´ll try your way to fix it properly later.

Thanks for the video and congratulations for the work! One question: I am renovating an MB D-jet 280SE 6 cyl, 1976, which had been idle for 20 years. It works very well, but it loses power on the way up, coming to a stop. I already changed, candles, cables, coil, exhaust and the problem persists. What can it be?
@Pexyz3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Marcos! Hard to say what the problem is on your car, but one idea in continuing the troubleshooting would be to connect a fuel pressure gauge to the feed line. That way you might be able to see if you lose pressure. Otherwise it may still be on the ignition side. /Peter
@marcosortolani36393 жыл бұрын
The idle pressure is 2 bar. It may be that on the way up the pressure drops. I will try to read the pressure gauge on the way up, to check if the pressure drops. Thanks!
