Incredible restoration of an old small chest of drawers (shoe cabinet).
The part is cleaned, old paint is removed, parts are swapped out and replaced, and a new surface is built up with brushable shellac.

@@TheGeraef у меня был большой, старый бабушкин сундук, он казался мне не модным и места много занимал, я решила его выбросить. Пришли два знакомых мужчины под 2 метра ростом, весом около 100 кг. Стали ломать сундук, чтобы было легче и удобнее по частям его выбросить. Можете представить, они не смогли его сломать. Настолько он был крепкий, настоящий дубовый сундук. А нынешняя мебель стоит, стоит и развалилась. И потом такие вещи сейчас ценятся. Прошло много лет, но я до сих пор вспоминаю этот сундук. Дура была, был бы такой мастер, можно было его красиво декорировать, поправить, обновить замочки, но....

The fact you are willing to completely take apart, repair, refinish, and reassemble such a sad piece boggles my mind. The end result is stunning. I don't know what you could get for this, but I would bet someone would be willing to pay good money for it. Bravo to you. It is heart warming to see old things given a new life instead of an end in a landfill. A keeper for another 100 years.

Oh, I love restoring furniture! On my project list for summer, (it must be above 65F at night), is an old rocking chair, circa late 1940’s, and an old picnic table that comes with two benches. To remove finish, I will use water based stripper and my hose, with a scubbie. I like to take it down to pure wood, then scrub again with bleach. I then re-glue all seams, putty any knicks, sand then steal wool. Finally, after dried, give two coats of stain, that reconditions wood, waiting 24 hours between. I am staining the rocking chair dark walnut. Then paint on urethane upside down, wait 24 hours, then paint again with urethane while it’s upright. I like to use satin urethane. Then I steel wool it, then give it a second coat of urethane. When I am done, it will look like a new rocking chair, the wood would be completely conditioned, so it won’t be fragile. It will be water resistant, therefore cleaning/dusting will be easy, a damp rag will do. The picnic table I will power wash to get off all the residual paint, and glue or reinforce with screws, careful to inset them, then putty. It will need lots of sanding, I’ll use my power sander. Squirt with hose to wash off all saw dust. Then I bought a breathable full coverage stain for it. Regular paint chips. Again..when I’m done, it will look new. When looking for new picnic tables, this style is about $500, unfinished. The can of stain I bought was $30, all the other related materials I already have. The rest is elbow grease! Thank you for this video, I’m now excited for warm weather to come. I don’t have a workshop.

У меня двоякое впечатление. Работа проделана большая, но на мой взгляд некоторые детали стоило заменить полностью. Дело вкуса конечно. Комод классный и конечный результат понравился. Лично меня смущает частичное состояние древесины. Понравилась модель комода, не большой, но вместительный.

Залипаю на каналах с реставрацией, очень интересно смотреть, это одновременно расслабляет и вдохновляет!! Потрясающая работа, комод получился шикарный! У Вас столько интересных инструментов, составов и техник) Иногда после реставрации предмет немного теряет своего шарма, так как используют слишком глянцевую краску или порошковую покраску, с одной стороны, если после всех работ предмет выглядит как новый, как будто с завода, значит все прошло успешно, а с другой стороны становится грустно, что он стал "новым" и потерял дух антикварности... В данном случае мой внутренний перфекционист ликует - комод обновился, но тем не менее выглядит старинным, получилось то что нужно) Приятно видеть что есть мастера, которым нравится восстанавливать, а не просто пойти в Икею и купить новое, сохраняя пусть и маленькую (в рамках глобального), но историю и жизнь этого предмета) Спасибо большое за Ваш труд и интересное видео)
