@@ApronstringsGayJordan It's actually my morning and at the moment it is 9.49am on Wednesday morning. I'm thrilled you are finally getting some nicer weather Gay. I can't believe we are going to be in our summer in about w months, our Spring is hot enough. I also hope we have nothing like our summer last year with those horrendous bushfires that swept through Victoria, NSW (my state) and Queensland, killing huge amounts of our beautiful wildlife. I don't like summer at all Gay, I much prefer winter lol. I found out the other day that Ray is only functioning on 35 percent of his heart. With five heart attacks under his belt it has done permanent damage to most of the bottom part of his heart. This is why he was out of breath all the time and his memory is shot. It will never change now it can only get worse which ticks me off. You would think that they could fix this type of thing in this day and age. Anyway I'm off to spend time with my grand daughter who is out here for a week of her school holidays. Hugs, M

This is the first year we've grown Okra & all of us love it. Even the Grandkids! Nobody grows Okra here in our area, but after this Summer's harvest we've decided to triple our next years planting. Thanks for sharing this. :)

@@ApronstringsGayJordan oh...that sounds good. I'm a born and raised North Mississippi boy and okra has been on our table all of my life. I'll be 70 in September so that has been a while. Never have eaten it raw dipped in ranch but you can bet I'm going to try it. Just found your channel. Looking forward to watching more. Happy 4th of July from Mississippi.

I love okra just about anyway you can fix it. We planted it this year for the first time, but we planted it too late due to lack of being able to find seeds early on. The plants look very healthy, but we have a frost coming on Thursday night. Hoping for better luck next year!

Brenda Stratton it’s a pretty plant, too. The blooms look like Hibiscus flowers. The weather sometimes is not a gardeners friend! I love okra, too. I put up 8 pints of okra pickles last night. You have a good day !!!

@@ApronstringsGayJordan I agree! Roses and hibiscus flowers are my favorites. I did a double-take when the okra started blooming, because I had no idea the flowers looked like that. I discovered okra pickles about 15 years ago, and I am a fiend for them...haha. Maybe I can pickle my own next year. Take care, and God bless!

Watching this and your suggestion reminded me to thank you, the lavender oil trick works, got a steam burn and remembered you saying about the lavender oil, I could not believe how good it worked, completely gone, what a nice trick, so thank you Kay. Your jars look nice, still don't know if I would like okra though.

@@ApronstringsGayJordan Wish I were closer I think we we share a lot of recipes, you remind me of the neighbor who gave me cookie recipe and taught me how to make my own lard using leaf fat only for baking, which I make plenty to give her, local butcher sells me the best stuff for $1 pound, I make enough for the year for us both. If you render your own that would make a good video Kay. I made the cookies over the weekend and I think it was one of the best batches I made, went 1/2 inch thick and got 37 really, really big cookies.

Definitely growing okra next summer so I can try this recipe. Looks so good! Thank you. Could you tell us more about your okra recipe with bacon?
@ApronstringsGayJordan
@ApronstringsGayJordan 4 жыл бұрын
It is definitely a different taste...one that I love!!!! When I use bacon, I cut the bacon n small pieces, and brown it in my pot until it is almost crisp....then I add enough water to cover the amount of okra I am cooking, or, use a jar of the canned pods.( and add extra liquid if needed) Season with s- n -p, garlic and onion powder. It is yummy!!!!

Do you think you could do this with frozen okra from the grocery store? maybe thaw them just enough to get them in the jars and then process them as you did it? i don't have fresh to try right now. Thanks!
@ApronstringsGayJordan
@ApronstringsGayJordan 4 жыл бұрын
If its already cut..it would be slimy! I'm not sure that the pods would can well....but, I would try them, not the sliced. The taste would be good .....just not a good texture....
