In 1929 house, during remodle, found that probably in the 1950s, someone extended knob and tube wiring by routing out the plaster in lath and plaster wall. They used wire nuts and plastered over the splices and cable! Ended up removing lath and plaster and running wire as new construction. When I went to replace the noisy vent fan, I discovered that the fan exhausted into dead space between floors! That required tearing off the ceiling. With all the other unsafe issues I ended up stripping all walls and ceiling to put in new wiring and vent the fan outside. The project cost me about 3 times what I had estimated, but now it is safe and healthy.

Most of the remodeling that I worked on ran at least 30% off estimate due to unforseen problems and customers making changes every week. Best was when I only asked for $150 to secure a permit but insisted on a third of payment as soon as I installed 4 meters & 4 panels in a triplex apartment conversion. Only got another $150 then owner said I would have to wait awhile because he had to replace all of the old soil pipe in the old house. I took the covers home from the 4 circuit breaker panels as a security deposit. After six months I canceled the permit and homeowner told me he was going to sure if I do do return his panel covers. They company that made the panels just so happen to change design and dimensions after being bought out. Of course when I remodeled my old house 35 years ago spent twice as much money . Glad that I decided on more insulation, better low e glass windows, high efficiency furnace & AC unit.

Hey Ryan! I like the new Insights cover framed and up on your wall. I'd be awfully proud of that too.

I watched a video about this product a few days ago and every single person in the comments thought it was code violation and fire hazard.

Ok, the connector is legal to conceal now… intending to make unsafe splicing junctions less likely… It won’t stop a jackall from doing the crap splice unless the connector becomes cheap, and easy… a jack all is still going to do the crap twist and tape drop…

Fan here too, I have used the tyco version does anyone else have any other manufacturers that they use and suggest. I have a hard time finding these. Product names and catalog numbers would help. And what they might typically pay. Thanks

I don't think this product is going to stop hack splices. Not at all. A professional will splice properly. A hack will still hack without buying the proper device.
