I got hooked on wild pigs about 7 or 8 years ago. I've been three times to Florida and four times to Texas. I'm only 83 years old now so I've still got a few more years to go down to Texas I couldn't go down in December this year. Covid but as soon as it opens up I'll go to Texas again. I am a Canadian so I have the American Border to cross which is closed to drive. I know there are four or five pigs waiting for me in Texas and the minute the Border opens I will be there

You can still cross the border man, come on with it hoss....just get you a covid test and have the paperwork showing you tested negative; and they will let you in I think. I wouldn’t bother transporting a weapon, just leave it at home so you don’t hear any crying or bitching about it. Just borrow one when you get there.

Well I just got back from a 3 Day hunt in Texas. I know trouble crossing the border in either direction I was successful I got three boars one at 100 lb one at 155 lb one at 189 pounds they are all fully dressed now and in my freezer

Shooting Ferrell hogs is one of my favorite things to watch on KZbin, and I rarely see one go down instantly with no kicking or squealing. This one was lights out at the speed of electricity.

I started hog hunting with a .338 wm a few years ago. Like the video showed, it is devastating and requires little to no tracking. Lol. If you hunt them in steep, thick woods, you have to minimize the risk of losing them by using a solid magnum cartridge and bullet. Great video.

I thought I was ‘shooting heavy’ when I used a .30-06 for hog... let alone .338 Win Mag! Considering ammo prices these days, I think I will use a .308 next time around but mainly because it’s my lightest weight rifle and running through the hills of Tennessee with an 8 pound rifle made me rethink my life choices 🤣

I know what you mean. My elk rifle is an 11 pound (empty) 7mm RM. It really does make you rethink your life choices after only about a mile in the mountains. That's why I'm packing a 243 in my profile pic. That overweight slugger is for elk and range only. 243 and 25-06 for deer and javelina.

I was waiting to see how many keyboard hog hunting experts would chime in on the 338. I've killed hogs with archery gear, pistols, and rifles in numerous calibers. I say use what ever you enjoy shooting. You never know when hogzilla will step out or when that hog will move at the same time you are pulling the trigger. Bigger is always better. I've killed them with headshots with 22lr but also have seen them shot with 30-06 only to run off and never recovered.

hell i had one just the other day was still walking around for a good minute or two after 2 shots from a .308, i could see blood pouring down his fur from vital shot but he still wouldnt go down immediately. I have found it fun to experiment with calibers to see how they work against hogs since we have no caliber restrictions on them.

.338 Win is a good allround for many uses ,know a Norwegian guy who for many years has had .338 WM as his main rifle. Lived and worked in BC as hunt guide for years he did ,many bears ,deer,moose lot more there. Africa, Siberia ,European tours in dozens he went on with the .338. Never failed him with good Sako Hammerhead bullets.

You were right the first time... lol. Texas is "down" from TN... I live north of San Antonio and make the drive "up" to WV to visit my folks a couple of times a year... so yeah, it's "up" from here. Dude, you were within 100 miles of me!! It would have been cool to say HI!! Have you ever hunted Axis deer??? They are everywhere down here in south Texas. Get an ATN 4K Pro scope and shoot it in 120 frames per second. You can have slow motion at that speed . You will not have any problems seeing in the dark or in the morning when the sun comes up. Put the recoil activation on and you won't even have to push the record button. Put all your BC information in correctly with an abl 1000 yard rangefinder
