This Podcast was one of if not the best Jocko podcast he has done. I love the way Jocko will hit you with a moment and just let that moment sit with you. I was glued to this one and even inspired me for the 5th time to go out and get a book and read it. Thank you Mr Tim Kennedy for sharing these stories with us.

What a podcast, I would never imagine myslef watching a podcast that lasts for 5 hours, 49 minutes and 30 seconds. Not only I watched every second and some parts for a few times, but also every second was loaded with action, lessons, intensity, humbleness, drama and pure humanity. What a motivating peace of art. Thanks for Jocko and Tim for such a masterpiece that can easily be made as a movie, especially the last evac mission. After 30 years of martial arts, I started recently JiuJitsu, tore my bicep tendon and had a short break. Guess what, watching the first 10 minutes of this piece, I felt ashamed to stay put, had to carry my bag and go for another two back to back sessions, Karate. and Jiu jitsu, may be I had some more adrenaline to have a short cardio session. Thanks for the motivation folks. Keep Punchin.

The best thing I have is God and Jesus. Christ on my side. I couldn't be here without God and my family. I shouldn't be alive I shouldn't be here. No matter the struggle the pain the hurt we need to drive on and be strong for ourselves and for those who need us and count on us everyday. Stay strong and hit me up if you ever need anything. Sometimes just talking and getting that pain out can help. I was born in 80 and in the south so the first 30 minutes really pulled me in and made me wish I could have met these amazing men then. I will say that this podcast has really made me reevaluate myself as a father of two young boy's and a daughter. Tim Kennedy isn't my favorite person in the world but damn do I know a little more about his story now. Jesus dude, you're built different. I've had guilt over the stupidest things I've said or did in the past that aren't on the same planet as what you've been through. YET you carry yourself so much better. Thank you for sharing all this and all your flaws, that's accountability. Btw, I hate war too. I'm glad I couldn't join when I tried. I would've been a little savage. I was always down for the cause with my boys. Fight clubs, skate parks, beer runs. Anything to have a good time. Too bad for me I got into some trouble and got put on a 5 year probation. I don't think I would have been cut out for war. Or maybe I would've learned better how to deal with shit, I don't know. Sincerely 32 y/o fat American

This is one of the best ones I’ve watched. Total shock and aww of what he’s done and is still doing. I wasn’t to take my wife to Cedar Park to take a class. Because she’s a teacher and just last week a teacher got the crap kicked out of them at a high school in Gwinnett county Georgia. But my wife teaches 5th but is 115 soaking wet and some kids are bigger than her. And she is finally ready to learn how to defend herself. 💪🏻 because she is realizing I can’t be there 24/7.

Became an engineer for fortune 500 company and worked my butt off and did super well and trained in martial arts with several broken bones and torn ligaments, not a soldier but the pain is worth it. The will to kill and the will to die explained by Jocko is very intense and deep. No bravado claimed but the fact that innocent people will die. Must be difficult to accept. Thank you all military for your sacrifices, losses and service. Love and admire you all

The high road is indeed very difficult to travel especially for the ego, only the best human beings get to it and stay on it, kudos to Tim for finding his way to it, as a genXer i'm still struggling to get there but these real life stories do help.

As some one with severe adult ADD, I find that of all of the things you would figure would create an attention deficit, it would be the long form interview/interrogation. However, considering that I have 23 years of service between the Corps and the ANG and 18 years as an Active LEO, I identify with all of your guests, I identify with you, I identify with your philosophy on life, accountability, success and failure. Time and time again I find myself coming up short in my dealings with my children or with my spouse, though I seem to have no issues dealing with the public. I am on a straight and narrow focused path in order to make the changes in my life that I need to make to be the man that society needs me to be to allow my family to contribute in a meaningful way to this world. Thank you. Guys like you, Shawn Ryan, Mike Glover, Tim Kennedy, the guys at Black Rifle the Warrior Poet society... they are much needed and have been since the dawn of warfare. Warfighters expressing their emotions and describing their failings and their course corrections is immensely helpful. Keep up the great work Sir!

Had the same thought when I read it. A good officer would have seen the potential there and talked him right out of the PD. I have always rather had a rookie I have to have on a leash on vs one I have to push through the door.

Every moment of this had some strength I needed. But the last hour, my god. It’s a healthy reminder of what the heavy hitters of our service go through. Let’s never forget that when we get caught up in the minor day to day bs that we often allow to slow us down.

It's taken me a couple weeks of listening when I could, rewinding when I missed something and just staying focused on everything these guys said... I'm now at the last 19 mins of the podcast... DAMN it's been a good one! And yes, I bought Kennedy's book and Jocko's Discipline is Freedom field manual yesterday.

I can confirm. I’ve worked in two states as a Law Enforcement Officer. I have worked in the tidewater area of Virginia and the pan handle of Florida. During the academy in Florida, they taught more BJJ related defensive tactics. Getting choking unconscious, was a requirement for us to pass DT in Florida. It was also a taught tactic. In Virginia, after George Floyd, they outlawed RNC and have categorized it as lethal force. Using it without justifiable lethal force, is considered excessive force and is a felony. Virginia also outlawed us putting our knees on peoples backs while handcuffing prone suspects. Knee across the shoulder blades is a perfectly safe behavior. Its when used excessively that it can cause damage, just like every tool provided to Law Enforcement officers. Policing, has turned into a joke. Promotions are based on politics, criminals are protected, DAs let criminals off to victimize innocent people daily. I’ve always wanted to be a cop growing up and now I’m trying to get out. 5 years of experience which I can’t use anywhere else.

Always loved Tim, but damn he really is one of those high-level extremely gifted guys. Just hearing about his ability to do extremely well and to rise up the ranks very quickly shows you how great the guy truly is, but as with all greatness it is rooted in the humbling of the individual which prepared him for true greatness.. EDIT: Back watching the rest of the episode - 3:18:07 onwards - damn, both of them get really emotional here. You can tell that Jocko identifies totally with that passage he just read before. Probably most serviceman share that exact sentiment, war is tough man 😥
