My 2017 340i came with passive dampeners/springs, and it always felt floaty and crashy against potholes. And sat way too high. I swapped them for Eiback sport lowering springs, and Bilstein B8 dampeners (in-built bump stops) and its completely transformed the ride. Still comfortable but way more assured with cornering and dealing with potholes. And it looks amazing lowered compared to factory setup. Very happy now.

I installed KW V2 coilovers paired with my 17inch Apex Wheels, 245/45/17 square setup! The car handles corners amazing! My next step forsure is the sway bars, and camber plates for the front as well! Edit: My 2018 BMW 340i xDrive did come equipped with EDC suspension, luckily KW has an option for the EDC Delete!

I've installed on my 440ix f36 KW DDC. Which works with the adaptive computer, no need to code and they ride 10 times better, much less roll as well, more much stiff, yet much more comfortable in any scenarios. Made me faster on track, and made me have way more confident in the car on shitty roads
@tamcra5357 Жыл бұрын
did you do v1, v2, or v3?

@@tamcra5357 the DDC isn't any of the above, it's a different model. You have the ones you mentioned, and also the DDC. I can only guess they are like the v3, but electrically controlled. Done it changes compression and rebound on the fly.

Kern has a video to answer any decision I’ve made with my RWD 340i so far. Appreciate you so much my dude. Just bought some pretty aggressive wheels from Apex (19x9 et28 F and 19x9.5 et33) and I wanted an aesthetic drop to complete the look without ruining the ride too much more (Adaptive M dampers)… Prior to this video H&R Sport seemed like the answer leaving a finger or two gap and barely changing the ride+adding another -0.5 of caber to help keep the wheels from rubbing in the back (275 rear tire for traction). Of course there is a Kern video where he literally has a RWD 340i with adaptive suspension and H&R Sports. Your coverage of the topics is so helpful to the community. Your videos have helped solidify my choices on multiple mods. Stage 2+ (TU pump and DP on MHD and Sutphin trans tune) plus some wheels and H&R springs makes for a perfect daily driver for aggressive street application. Thank you Kern!

Please keep in mind that lowering springs - especially these H&R spring which are pretty low - often damage the (rear) damper or bump stump quickly Great you added these info in your video at 8:30

I like my 340xi msport with adaptive and hr sport springs. Still rides very nice in eco/comfort, but in sport/sport+ it handles. Been a nice compromise between coilovers, and stock suspension. Only thing that concerns me is having to replace the adaptive suspension at some point lol. It's gonna hurt the wallet.
@NS416 Жыл бұрын
At that point you might be better off just getting coilovers lol.

I put H&R sports springs on my F80 and it was the worst thing I did! It looked perfect but the ride was awful it was crashy and the steering just felt weird too! I only managed it for a few weeks before swapping it out for new Bilstein shocks and that made it perfect.

What’s up Kern!!! This is my first video of yours I’ve ever seen and it definitely won’t be my last. I have a 2021 m340 xdrive that I daily as a traveling salesmen I probably do 20k miles a year. Do you think v2 kw coils would be a good move for me. I’m trying to have the least amount of issues as possible and spend the money on the front end so I don’t have expensive repairs come up. I’m just looking for a little bit of improved looks and performance that’s all. Not racing or anything crazy just normal daily driving and racing around with my buddys from time to time. @@kern417 factory alignment specs. I have lowering springs from old owner, not sure the brand. And for some reason, tires are feathering and making noise because camber is out in front and they can’t get aligned.
@kern417 Жыл бұрын
Camber shouldn't cause excessive wear on your tires. Make sure that your toe is inspect and if camber is two different from left to rear, there may be a bent control arm or something else causing issues.

What are your thoughts on lowering spring on xdrive I heard it messes up the transfer case and coilovers are better is this true? @kern417 Жыл бұрын
Lowering springs work fine on xdrive. If anything coilovers can be more dangerous if you lower the car too much. It's not about the suspension so much as the ride height you go with because you can't lower xDrive cars too far or else it will damage axles.
