Except Arbiter was a capable and competent force to be reckoned with, Halo Studios is just a rebrand of 343i due to how embarrassing they became to Microsoft for continually screwing up so hard. I'm done with the cycle of "IT'LL BE BETTER NEXT TIME GUYS, WE SWEAR" with this series and the people around it, I'm just going to go do my own thing.

@@trashjash I know Halo Studios is a rebrand of 343, that's the joke. I'm also tired of them saying "WE LEARNED FROM OUR MISTAKES, IT'LL BE BETTER NEXT TIME, TRUST!" You do your own thing. There are few games made by devs that actually care these days. But they're around.

That's the whole point of exploring his character. Even if he's detached, he shows very much human emotions throughout 20 years of lore.

Chief is supposed to be a conduit for the player and nothing more. His knowledge and thoughts on the current situation are supposed to reflect what the player is feeling. He's not supposed know anything we don't. He's a green suit of armor that reflects what we feel in the moment and sometimes expresses it through early 2000's shooter protag sass. These attempts at "finding his humanity" ruin who he is.

@@raptorshinryu Yes. The Fall of Reach, relesed before Halo CE ruins the entire Halo before it even began, right? Chief has always been human, Wheather you like it or not. Bungie was stubborn about their "he's a vessal for the player" narrative when the lore suggested the opposite from the start. Bungie aren't saints, they disregarded lore as lesser work, tried to retcon fall of Reach, and even hated the idea of Halo Wars.

This is contradicted by Bungie in the OG games, though. Despite being bred to be the perfect soldier, there’s still a human in there, somewhere. This is what made Halo 4’s story so good. If it weren’t held down by such mid gameplay, it probably would’ve gone down as the best in the series

I wonder if that line "Master chief is human, he's not a machine" is a philosophy that drove so much of this strange heart stringy bits they've included into the previous games. I don't think I ever really needed a touchy feely master chief. He was always the stoic hero that had enough interesting character to draws me in, but was empty enough to put myself in those shoe.

And it's because they had the stupidest method of development too. For making the slipspace engine that they praised so much, they relied on contract developers instead of full-time employees. Because of this, nobody knows how to actually use the engine because the people who do know have no obligation to provide how since their contract is up. They set themselves up for failure.
