I can’t emphasise enough how refreshing it is to have someone reporting facts in a concise, clear way, without feeling the need to add music and the atmosphere of a 10 year old’s birthday party! This report shows that there is still hope for people who actually want to hear facts and don’t need music or other diversions to keep their attention.

Thank you! It does seem grabbing attention involves shouting, bells and whistles, but that's not my style. Maybe that's my age showing!

Are heart's go out to Pip, she is a true WARRIOR and we do pray her keel will be revived before further complications arise. Keep us posted, these daily updates are wonderful and right to the point. Thank you again!

Where are the reliability engineers to support Pip? Relay life is known and knowable. Diagnostic logic could be build in to the circuit. The design of the controls should also be called into question. This seems to be a large gap in her organization. The other item to scrutinize is the line ejection shoe on the self tailing winch. I would like to see these failed components in more detail. We need more racing and less fixing on board. I think the repairs make for great viewing.

Thanks for the wheather forecast! Oh, I'm very sorry for Pip 🙁 but we saw in the last Vendée what a strong woman she is! 💪 She will manage it! I wish her, "our" Boris and of course all the other sailors the best, especially in these difficult conditions in the Southern Ocean! 🍀 Greetings from Bavaria/Germany

Yes, last time she managed to change out a rudder, which was extraordinary. Electrical / electronic problems can be incredibly frustrating, and when it's something that is difficult to diagnose, as is clearly the case with the keel motor, it must be so depressing.

Awesome! Thanks for the explanation of the exclusion zone and penalties. Pip is an absolute legend! She repaired (not just replaced) an electronic relay ...at sea, in the middle of nowhere, by herself! Amazing!

Feeling so much for Pip, sending her all good wishes in the hope that she overcomes this challenge. Fingers and toes crossed for all sailors and their boats as things might get hairy now due to the weather. Many thanks to you for the update and warm regards from Germany.

She has fixed the keel problem by combining parts from both the new and old relays!

Very interesting. Very sorry for Pip, she seems really down. I am wondering how the skippers are dealing with all the time zone changes?

Horrid day for Pip - she will bounce back, Her rudder change last time showed the world that she is completely extraordinary. However, it must be very uncomfortable for her team to have sent her out with a duff spare keel relay. Even less comfortable if it was not unboxed and tested before being stowed aboard.

Why is there an exclusion zone? It's not just so sailors don't hit icebergs, because it's always there. It's a HUGE area of our planet.
@Sail-World12 сағат бұрын
It is there for the sailors' safety to stop them going too far south. Yes, the Antarctic is a huge part of our planet, and effectively what they are going round in the Vendee Globe.
@bonvoyage537710 сағат бұрын
If the antarctic isnt excluded, then, if one of the sailors has a major problem say in the middle of icebergs/pack ice whatever, then rescue teams are put at a greater risk(their own life) to get them out
