It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book kzbin.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

It amazes me that in all these cabin videos that they need to get birch to start a fire or cut and gather wood, the wood rack had 4-5 pieces in it . At our cabin the wood is stacked high inside. We normally clean stove when leaving an it only needs a match when we show up . The wood in winter is just outside door under cover,

The silence is so loud... It has been over 25 years since I last heard such silence. Everything around me grew and grew until it's now overcrowded and noisy all times of the day and night. What I wouldn't do to be able to experience such peaceful quiet again for a time, but, I have too many responsibilities to up and leave for the woods (nearest decent-sized woods to me is a good few hundred miles).

I see a lot of these videos and having grown up in the mountains I enjoy them, reminds me of my youth. I do have a suggestion about dragging around your supplies. I work construction and use a safety harness daily, and would think it would be easy to hook your sled to a harness and just walk normally, allowing your arms to swing for greater momentum. Home depot has cheap harness and are adjustable for winter or summer wear. You could also use them for dragging wood, logs, your kill (hunter? )and normal supplies when you need to restock. I don't know how many times I have seen people dragging a sled with your arms constantly behind you. Just a suggestion, great video enjoy your solitude!

Minus 34 F is a bit drafty... Suggestion: A double heat shield bent 90 degrees for the corner in back of the stove. It would reflect heat back into the cabin. The doubled heat shield would serve as extra protection for the walls behind the stove and can be used to dry gloves, hats, socks and the like.

I love the organization in your cabin and the way you have made it all neat, but have what you need and outside, the change is amazing. To say that you have done a lot of work is an understatement. And, not only work, but it is so beautiful and cozy. Guess the star is with 'mommy' It is a little cold for him to be out - I have had a St Bernard who froze her paws and had to have them treated. And, it was not that cold.

@Martha - He probably did the smart thing and left the dog at home with his girlfriend. But if you're going to have a dog out in all that snow and bitter cold, it should be wearing doggy boots. If it is not a double- coated breed, it should be wearing a dog coat that adequately covers its entire back, chest and their tummy 🙂 (I hate to see those useless coats that provide no protection for the dogs vulnerable chest and tummy).

Yep! Insulation and plastic for the rafters... a must! -- Unless you've got several free hours each day to dedicate to exercising --- cutting, hauling, splitting, stacking, covering.., just to uncover, haul indoors, start and keep a fire going strong --- compensating for 90% heat loss through your metal roof... Don't forget to go back outside and re-cover your wood pile! But! Don't worry about shoveling a path to the wood pile! You're making enough trips that you've already got a stomped ice-road wider and denser than the one to the outhouse!

One time working in north eastern Alberta it was -49C. When you said something your words froze in mid air and fell on the ground. You had to shovel them up and thaw them on the stove to see what was said. If you didn't there would be nothing but a babbel out there in the spring.
