Shoutout to my friend Gavin for slaying at improv piano!!
The 34x34 is a one-of-a-kind, 3d printed Rubik's Cube with 6939 pieces. To make this stop motion I placed each piece one by one, taking a picture after placing each piece. Would you believe it only took 3 months!?
For more of Gavin's original improvisations and piano music, visit www.gavinlaur.... or follow / gavinlurrr

This is a wonderful video. I do have some advice though from having tried (and failed) to do stop motion! You'll want to anchor the frame to the supporting structure (the table, in this case). This is typically done with pegs, rods, or wires, but for this particular object I suggest having a shallow tray that the frame slots into and rigidly attaching that frame to the table. This will help mitigate accidental shifting caused by bumping the table or the object. By the very nature of stop motion, detecting these shifts is difficult and correcting them is a nightmare (which is what caused my attempts to fail). I'm not sure what your process is and if it includes frame review. When doing stop-motion for film, after every couple shots the animator watches the last several frames on repeat, played back at the final render speed (20fps, 24fps, 30fps). This helps catch shifts and nudges and allows you to correct them without undoing too much work. Anyway, all-in-all, this is incredible and must have been a huge time investment. Kudos for getting the lighting and angles consistent enough to give the illusion of motion.

It seems to me that it needs to be polished to make its surface glossy and get rid of the waves that a 3d printer creates when printing. I believe that this way it will have a more complete look. (and I also just hate this 3d printer effect, which makes the surface of the part look kind of wavy)
