Yes, but ALL actors are getting hair and makeup done, and there's still a difference as to who is playing a role. If hair and makeup are decisive, the Winston Churchill interpretations of Gary Oldman and Timothy Spall, for instance, would have to be considered equivalent, but this is clearly not the case. It's always a synthesis between the actor and the role.

Madonna managed ok on the slower, gentler numbers, but never really sang or acted well enough to convince as the most powerful woman the Americas had ever known. And Jonathan Price was hopeless too. She should have come out brilliant but in many scenes she merely came out as camp. She was impressive in the scenes where Joan beats Christina, as she was crying in at least one of them while she did it. She shows that while Joan does abuse her daughter, it is somehow as every lick she's giving to Christina she also gives to herself (she probably was aware that Joan had been abused as a child too, and perhaps even worse than Christina).

The second film was released in June 1965 by Paramount Pictures, and starred Carroll Baker. In 1975, Roberta Collins played Harlow in the rhythm-and-blues band Bloodstone's pop musical movie “Train Ride to Hollywood.” In 1978, Lindsay Bloom portrayed her in “Hughes and Harlow: Angels in Hell.” In 2004, Gwen Stefani briefly appeared as Harlow at the red carpet premiere for Hell's Angels in Martin Scorsese's Howard Hughes biopic “The Aviator.” And don’t forget Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood”.

@@David-yw2lv wow , yes, she did amazing job and her voice sounds so much like Loretta Lynn I wasn’t at all criticizing her performance or her luxe for that matter I just didn’t think that she looked that much like Loretta Lynn. Because of her voice alone, she was definitely the right choice for the movie.
