I once found two puppies on the side of the road. They had fleas, ticks and mange and were severely malnourished. It was horrible to see them suffering like that. I took them home, gave them a bath and dipped them both using a medicine from a local feed store. Got their appetite going again with some bread and water and small amounts of dog food and eventually they were able to eat full bowls of it. I got them dewormed and vaccinated, spayed and neutered. Their coats can't in nice and shiney and they were back at a healthy weight where they should have been. Those puppies had never been held close by anyone. They seemed a little freaked out by it when I first held them close to me, but after that, they would climb right up into my arms. They were the most loyal dogs I've ever had.

I agree with this but its also not that simple either. You should only do it if you know how to do it safely. Many animals/reptiles can become desperate and dangerous and some can even kill you with one good bite. I get what your saying but the way you said it just makes me picture some idiot going up to a dying snake that then injects him with deadly venom.

@@billfred9411 Absolutely true, I thought it would be obvious to assess your surrounding and safety. Thanks for reiterating the importance. I was fishing on a lake in Quebec, Canada when I noticed a slight bubbling on the glass-like water about 100 meters from the boat. When I went to investigate what it was, I found a Monarch butterfly struggling on the surface of the water. I think his wings were too wet to fly. He must have been exhausted and cold from spring time water temperature. I scooped him up out of the water and he sat on my hand for 15-20 minutes just trying to dry his wings and absorb my body heat. When he finally flew away he just went straight up. I couldn't believe how high he flew! I watched him until he was out of sight. It was just a butterfly, but it was a special moment I will never forget 🦋💕

I've saved more birds than I can count. The most hopeless case was a mourning dove that my friend's younger brother had shot with a bb gun. It put a hole in the dove's wing. I administered first aid and I covered the cage over with a blanket. I assumed that the bird would be dead by dawn due to blood loss. Amazingly, the cute little dove looked at me with those shy, shining eyes in the morning. I released her about six months later, when she was able to fly. She was friendly, and would perch on my finger, and would coo when I would she saw me. I named her Evangeline. I waited until the weather warmed after winter to release her.

Later she got fit, regained her ability to fly ..but she was so attached to us ..that she was still coming back to us ..but we can't keep her, it was so difficult for us to say goodbye to her ..but that's what she deserved more ..she should always fly rather than being on a cage 😊

It didn't help that he was being whipped around, as this was a very windy day. I was working at a restaurant at the time... And me, my manager and the cook were trying to figure out what to do. Eventually, the cook and manager decided to climb the tree using whatever means necessary so they could reach the bird and yes, he got to fly away again by the end of it. Gave me a little more faith in humanity that day.

I had a few people try to help but couldn’t stay long enough to actually catch it but I had nothing else to do lol when I finally caught it I wrapped it in my towel and ask the ferry worker for any type of box a bird could fit; in hope of taking it to a vet but wasn’t allowed in the bus if I didn’t have a mussel or cage for it so I ended up spending the night in the beaches bathrooms/changing rooms after finding oysters crackers from a near by restaurant and a bowl for water kept him with me till I could take it to the police station as soon as they opened so they could take it to vet and get it patched up. At the time in hadn’t really realized how big seagulls till I was holding one😅🤣🖤🖤🖤

My friend and his family were taking their puppy to the vet to euthanize her. She had a horrible neurological disorder. I called him for help, not knowing about their baby's demise and he brought his fam on a detour to where I was. He and I spent about a half hour working in a storm drain and finally saved about 7 baby ducks that had fallen through the grating. We put them into a bucket and took them near where their parents waited, frightened by us and the loss of *their* kids. We let his two young daughters carefully tip the bucket, releasing the baby ducklings onto the grass. The mother came over and collected her brood, looked at us strangely then scurried away, ducklings in tow. My friend and his fam were still struggling with their loss but I hope to this day that helping save lives gave them some comfort.

A few years ago, was on my way to work (i have to walk to the main area), was taking a shortcut behind a large building where some trees usually are sitting near a fence, where on the ground next to a tossed piece of cloth was a baby Ring tailed possum (I live in Australia.). Saw no sign of mama Possum, and i couldn't leave it, i picked it up in the cloth, to be sure i didn't get bit in case it was scared, and took it to work. THANKFULLY i work as a Dog groomer and my work also had a Vet clinic. He was taken by the vets to get him warmed up and they call a Wild Life Person to take care of the little fella. :)

Around 3-4 years ago, I was on a walk at night, and I heard some sound.. So I went to go check what it was, and it was a cat that was still alive, although it got hit by a car. I'm glad I was able to save the cat from passing on, and the cat was reunited with it's owner again. :)

My husband and I just recused a painted turtle that was hit while crossing the road with another turtle. Unfortunately the second turtle didn’t make it, but the one we saved seemed very happy when we returned him to a saver location.

@@lorraine9242 Thank you. I miss working with wild animals. Where I am now though, my family help the stray cats here. We adopt ones that want us, and make sure there is food, water, and a place to shelter when they need it. We recently had a red fox raising it's young under our house. It was awesome

I once rescued a lamb with its head stuck in a wire fence. There were about 10 other sheep gathered around making noises of distress. The lamb was going crazy. After talking calming to them all the lamb let me get it out. The lamb stood still and let me pat him before running off, I swear everyone of them looked and nodded in appreciation.

A kitten showed up one day on our back porch, covered in ticks. We took the poor kitten to a vet to get checked out, then took him home where we removed all the ticks that were still hanging on (at least a hundred) and kept him as an outside cat on our property. We feed him and love on him, he takes care of mice for us. He’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever met- we call him Pancake.

The animal I saved was I saw a puppy who had been crying from a car crash and the mother was dead too sadly but the puppy was still alive so I ran like my life depended on it and took it to the hospital even tho I’m 10-15 and luckily my mom said we could keep it now her name is Koki named after my 2 dogs that died
