In this video of NO FILTER NO CO2 NO FERTS Walstad method aquarium I introduced baby Betta fish (Betta fry) that is only 35 days old. It will be very interesting to watch the growth of baby betta fish into full grown adult. The fish is so tiny measuring only 0.8cm (0.3 inch). Both parents were "Plakat Betta" but I am still not able to determine the gender and the color. For this I will have to wait until the fish is 2-3 months old. Fish is very responsive and started to eat live baby brine shrimps. I will slowly transition feeding the fish from live baby brine shrimps to frozen food and the end goal is dry food. At the moment the mouth is so tiny that I didn't even try to offer dry food. Huge thanks to my fellow fishkeeper and betta breeder who gave me this opportunity to have a such a small fish. Big thanks to Foo the Flowerhorn and Diana Walstad who were main inspiration for this aquarium.

Dear IM Aqua, this is a great series, thank you very much! I love the music, the calm atmosphere and the whole setup! Awesome! I saw Foo the flowerhorn some time ago and now this, and I really like it. I'm thinking about building a similar tank myself. Can you please answer me a few question? (Sorry if I missed that info if it's in the videos already) What kind of light are you using? How many Watts and Kelvin? I somehow got the impression that you're a German, do you perhaps have a German shopping link to your light (and the rest of your equipment)? What are the approximate overall costs of your whole setup and tools? And is it necessary to have the pump in the back? And also, can/will you put more bettas inside, so the baby one doesn't feel alone? I would be so, so glad if you help a complete newbie. And I'm hyped for future documentaries of this tank. 👌😊

And one more question: does that tank smell? (My girlfriend might not be amused if I build a smelling walstad tank in the living room)😅
@IMaqua
@IMaqua 2 жыл бұрын
As I mentioned in my first video I was also inspired by Foo when I started this series. All the info you asked regarding light is in video description. I am from Croatia not from Germany. The tank doesn't smell but if you never had aquarium before I would advise you try the "normal" setup first and later on transition to Walstad method. Betta fish will be alone because they don't tolerate other Bettas. I hope I answered all of your questions.
@IMaqua
@IMaqua 2 жыл бұрын
The light I have is chihiros AII series and you can easily find it in Germany, try Aquasabi or you can try Green Aqua they have delivery to Germany. In this setup I didn't include filter but I did add the water pump for circulation only.

@@IMaqua thank you so much, and please excuse my late reply (I was on holiday in Madeira :)). I had several normal aquariums for years when I was younger (standard ones for guppies, neons and such). I will start a walstad tank this year and use your videos for orientation. Keep up the good work 👌😊

@IMaqua

If you check episodes before this one it was often, I think 40-50% 2x per week because of brown water. But now thar the aquarium is more stable I do around 40% per week.

Unfortunately he passed away recently. I think he was around 1.5 years old. I wish they live longer. But that aquarium is still alive and is now full of moss and probably has couple of hundred red cherry shrimps. I will definitely get another wild betta in the future. Would love to do black water aquarium (habitat) for betta imbellis.

Sir which fish can I add for algae control ??
@IMaqua
@IMaqua 2 жыл бұрын
Algae shouldn't be controlled with fish. You need to reduce algae by controlling light duration and nutrient intake plus adding more plants. Some fish will eat algea just as an additional food source but they cant control it.

You can just follow what I did in the first episode of this aquarium series. 1 inch potting soil and 1 inch gravel (or sand). Important when you chose potting soil; it need to be organic and without any chemicals (pesticides) added. In the video description I added exact chemical ratio in mg/l for N (Nitrogen), P (Phosphorus) and K (Pottasium).
