I think it is a good buy at $ 40. I really don’t find it ugly either. I would like it for shooting thumb draw as you can use both sides of the riser. Great starter bow. I recently bought a new PSE recurve that was supposed to be 30 lbs @ 28” and when I checked it on a bow scale it was a disappointing 25.8 lbs. so the Chinese bow is probably within tolerance.

I really enjoyed this review, and your humor & honesty. I bought the 40lb version of this bow off of WISH and I love it ... love it so much I got the advanced version of this recurve bow that has an aluminum riser, a whisker basket & one pin sight. I'm enjoying that bow as well. (although the advanced version is not actually a recurve, but a straight pull.) I just started archery at the age of 60 & for an idiot like me, these bows are awesome ... I refuse to pay $399 for a traditional bow at my local Archery shop for something to just fire arrows at a target ... that was the cheapest recurve they sold & when I saw that, I was disgusted and just walked my ass right out the door! I paid $55 for this bow at 40lb with 12 arrows ... the other fancier bow cost me just $61 for just the bow itself ... so for $116 I have two bows to enjoy my new hobby with, and I have to say ... I love them! But I really enjoyed your review & personality in this video! Thank you, even though it's people like me you probably laugh at ... hopefully one day I will be able to shoot these bows as good as you, and then laugh at them as the toys I know they are to guys who are well advanced in Archery! God bless you and your family!

@@3DArchery I meant a little more specifically that people like yourself laugh at people like myself who suck at archery; so therefore, we will choose a cheaper way to have fun doing it. People like yourself can take a bow like this and make it look good. So you choose to not spend a lot of money on a bow because you can basically make any bow look good, and a half decent priced/ half decent bow great! I can't, so I will always pretty much choose the cheaper route! Anyway, thanks for your review and comments ... God bless!

I just bought the 40lbs version, so glad I did since your 30lb was way under that, would love to know the actual draw weight of the 40lb bow at 28 inches. I quite like the rugged minimal look of it and pad taped the limb rests which helps heaps tightening the bolts, and just makes the thing feel better and quieter.

We use Rolan Snake's in our community park to teach people archery. We use 22 and 26 pound bows. 12+ of them. Other type of cheapo bows and draw weights for children (10lb, 12lb, 15lb). They work, are durable and eat the strings like crazy. We need cheap bows because you can not even think fo things people do with bows. Damn. Also they are used for Archery Tag. I'm 100% sure they could be replaced with the bow You tested without any issues. Not for "series" shooting of course ;). Although we also use sticks and strings when doing reenactment so ;).

Also the Southwest Archery 29 pound bow in standard length to teach adults or the 22 pound smaller 45 inch one for kids. Do not get SAS unless you are going to be using a traditional no shelf bow or a traditional type of flatbow longbow with the small shelf since the SAS model has the smallest shooting shelf I have ever seen to the point the SAS do come with 4 cheap cheap stick on arrow rests, better off buying more sturdy rests that are not stiff brittle plastic from Amazon reviews.

I didn't realize that recurves actually had a "set" Draw Length. That's one thing I like about my compound, a hard stop for DL. Great review thank you.🤠👍
@yugen4 жыл бұрын
28" is just the standard for measuring draw weight. So with a fiberglass longbow or recurve, the weight of the bow is when you draw 28". You get several more pounds per inch you draw past 28". Fiberglass bows can generally be drawn to 30+" and be fine. However, it's a much different story for wooden bows. When making a wooden bow, you carefully tiller the bow to the intended draw length. So if you're making a bow for yourself and you want say 50# at 29", you first tiller to say 50# at 25", and then NEVER PULL IT PAST 25". You remove some more wood, and then pull until you get to 50#, maybe it's 26", repeat, and then 50# at 28". You repeat this process until you get to your target, in my example 50# @ 29". If you ever draw PAST that length, you will likely incur a "set" or "string follow" within the bow, and it will lose strength or even break. That's why a lot of traditional archers using wooden bows will have their arrows cut to their exact draw length, so they never accidentally overdraw and ruin their bow. Modern bows are much, much more forgiving.

Only can on rare occasion find a 45 pound bow and that is all. and I do recommend either on the bow or right on the shelf using an arrow rest or built to curved/a small dowel piece on rest under a hair rest since you should not shoot off a flat rest as the bow is then not accurate as shown here. The Bow If I got one to teach would be the 30 pound bow since the 20 seems to have 20 pound speed problems that most fiberglass/nylon fiberglass bows tend to have and have the plastic shooting rest fixed to be sitting right on the shooting shelf with possibly a hair rest over that.

Hello. I bought this bow in 40#, in hope that it will be between 32# and 40#. The eBay site says it should be here by 10-7- 2020. I see yours was 6# under, an the reviews on line say there's are under also. This will be for my bugout pack, and for just shooting around the yard for fun .As of now I have a 1978 Bear Black Bear,,45# at 26" . I am going to rewatch your Instinctive Shooting vids over again. I have always had pins or sites, but I am sure I will catch on. I see were you can buy 20# or 30# limbs for cheap, so I think I will. Any way for 40.00 delivered it will make a fun toy for me and any one who wants to shoot it. Also my Bear Says 45# on the limb, but the bolts are turned all the way in, do you have a guess on about how many pounds that is? Do you think 40# is to heavy to make a Carp fishing bow out of? Happy_Inn should give you a kick back as I know your Vid is why I looked him up and bought from them, even though there was cheaper ones to be found. I really enjoy your Vids, do you think you will ever do a vid on old Bear Black Bear bows. I liked your ones on the Bear 76ers. I had the Green one in 1978 with white limbs.
