Lived there in the 1960's and still love the memories. In those days you could say, "I live in Reading" with pride.

This actually brought me to tears. I grew up in the 100 block of S 8th St in the 50's. Seeing GIG Novelty and everything else made me long for those times again. Great pictures. Hope you have more. Thank you for this...

Grew up across the river in West Reading....50's - 60's times were still good, like most of the rest of the country. Growing up in Berks County, in those days.....like most of my generation feels, a wonderful time to have grown up in! Will never bee that good again, I'm afraid.

LONG LIVE THE MEMORIES OF READING PENNSYLVANIA AND BERKS COUNTY FROM DECADES AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM FROM MICHIGAN AND DIDN'T LAND HERE UNTIL 30 YEARS AGO IN APRIL 1994, AND I WANT OUT OF HERE VERY BADLY, BUT I HAVE AN EXTREMELY SOFT SPOT FOR WHAT THIS AREA WAS MANY YEARS AGO, NOT FOR WHAT IT IS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great pictures. very enjoyable to view. The two pictures of Wernersville are backward. If you reflect them onto a mirror they are then correct.

Times when Reading was a city like snow and now is so different hard to live there when you drive on the streets still can see the beautiful buildings. But is not the same as the old times

Yes she is. Taylor Swift grew up in a Georgian Colonial home in Reading, Pennsylvania until her family moved to Nashville when the pop star was 14.
