35+ Words and phrases with radical 'heart' and 'mind' 心 (Chinese EP 27), upgrade your vocabulary!

This episode gives words and phrases in daily life with radical heart. It also explains why understanding radicals can help you extend vocabulary: a HSK1 level character can be upgraded to HKS2 level. And the making of compound characters 'meaning+sound' and the construction of words with one core character is also explanend with vivid exampls.

Hello, do you have any idea for which book or source i can use to learn the origin of chinese language, for example i want to learn anything similar with 心 which is heart and if i mix with another word, that would mean something regarded with emotion but i want to learn for all the word i can find

Hi, maybe you can search with key words 心字旁的字 or 偏旁心, but it's mostly in Chinese. As far as I know, no books specific about each radical. We natives didn't learn them separate, rather a collective experience through many characters.

Hi, the truth is, we natives also don't (knowing pronunciation just by looking at the characters), if not checking dictionary to be sure, in the first place, especially the tones are so variable. It comes with time. I myself needed perhaps just one or two times of hearing the correct pronunciation until I remember (hopefully for a lifetime) 😉

I personally depend a lot on the phonetic part, which I mentioned in the video. Still, takes a lot of experience from many other characters to get a pretty good stomach feeling to pronounce a new one. Many times the guessing is wrong. Many times we live with the mistakes (if nobody correct you) perhaps for a lifetime... cause everyone depends also a bit too much on the phonetic part 😂
