This warmed my heart. As a vet and someone who's been homeless before. My experience wasn't so gracious. I was threatened with arrest and beaten for staying in a tent in the woods Of a church. While. Laid bloody they burned my possessions. The last picture I had of my deceased parents. Things that can never be replaced. As they walked back to the church laughing I forgave them thier trespass. It's good to see man looking out for man. See that not all have hardened their hearts. I found help with V.A. Many have nobody.

David Ellis , sir , little do you know. here in california and there . there are people that prefer to live on the street as you say. in Sacramento california several years ago. we , the state built a huge facility with hot and cold showers , beds with clean linen, the works, hot three meals a day. they had to shut it down due to none use. most rather live near the river, under bridges, etc. moms with kids have priority for a private room. see you have to understand. there are rules. like curfew, no,smoking, drinking, drugs, rules . most people rather be in dire straights than be under rules. get it right. we need to fix the mental problems first. the antisocial are by sickness or choice. everyone has a choice. from someone that has family that wants to be under a bridge with no mental health issues so they can get their ssi check and party to the wee hours of the morning. sleep all day and have a hot meal,delivered to them once a day (free) panhandle and make additional 25k a year tax free.

Just as long as you don't mind if he moves his shack into your back yard. Everybody wants to help until they move onto your street. Gainesville, FL is liberal heaven and they are they worse when it comes to helping the poor. They would rather see them die than have them in their neighborhood.....it's fine with them if they're in someone else's hood.

Beautiful deed, God bless you all. I've been living in my van through the winter since I became disabled 6 months ago thank God I had it for shelter with a big buddy heater. if it were not for friends and some family I would have suffered. I know just moved into my motor home that was at the shop for 3 years yesterday. I know what's it's like to be struck low and survive. by you guys providing this man shelter especially living in his condition made me reflect on mine and realize that I had it far better then this man was humbling.

I used to work in downtown Toronto and I befriended a number of homeless folks who spent their nights near my place of work on the heating vents in the sidewalk. The sad truth is, most of them were there by choice because, although there was a homeless shelter just 2 blocks away that would take them in for the night, they locked the doors at 11:00 PM and denied access either in or out until morning. Many of the street people can't handle that lack of freedom and so they choose to sleep outside. Something like this mini-home is the best of both worlds, a place to sleep in comfort, and the freedom to come and go as they please. I was deeply touched by this video and I praise you all for the work you do. I live in the Edmonton area now and I was wondering how I can get contact info to become a volunteer? Acts of kindness like this are never a waste of time or effort.Just a remnder to those who have read this far, smash that like button and subscribe. It takes little effort but it all helps.

Perfect! I spent the last three years camping in socal. Sometimes I had a one person tent in the woods; I spent six months in a hammock, four months in an immobile car and sometimes just laying on a mat in the woods. This exactly matches my concept of what every homeless person needs. Unfortunately there was a rancher in socal who tried to help the homeless by sharing his land. He had two hundred acres. They through him in jail. We all need to do what we can but this is what every human being on the planet should have. God Bless

Some homeless people actually like to be that way. Alot of times do to mental illness and paranoid thinking, others are just happier off the grid without responsibility. Some feel confined and trapped indoors. This was a brilliant idea. It gives him shelter without the actual responsibilities.

Kristin Gallo ,, the woods are a great place to be that's true . staying warm and dry however especially for the homeless is a very important thing. I'm sure the community near by offers showers and other services most do. that didn't look like to bad of a little sleeping area ,well insulated. That old man probably hasn't had anyone to care for him in years..
@kristingallo21587 жыл бұрын
Richard Provost he doesn't want anyone to take care of him. I actually deal with mental illness and paranoia. I have been in treatment and support groups with schizophrenics. Tbh we hate the public showers and community shelters. Usually we have social phobias and distrust of people. I have ptsd from rape. I actually ran for a while. Didn't want to sign leases or not be able to run away. Signing the papers and being "stuck" in one place scared me more than freezing or starving. It's an entirely different outlook on "safe" then non traumatized people have. Tbh I still sleep with my shoes on in case I have to run from someone in the middle of the night. The entire way the brain works changes. It's a survival mentality.

Richard Provost don't display your ignorance. her comment was dead on and spoke from personal experience as well as personal observation. yours just speaks from societies view that we are broken and need to be fixed. that every last human Must conform to your "society" and it's "normality". that's right. I said we. I have been chronically homeless for 3 decades. I've tried many many times to "fit in". it creates a roller coaster of a life, extreme highs followed by deeper and deeper lows. my family is frustrated at the potential squandered and I must admit I get down on myself over the things I could have done with my talents. I'm hoping to find my place in this new shrinking world still one day, i still poke around and do what side jobs I can find. try my best to navigate each day as though one day things will be different. but secretly I know it's just too late in life. I won't ever be what they all want me to be. the small part of me that hasn't given up quite all the way, knows I have about 2 years give or take to find myself in a position to start an accelerated degree program and perhaps still do the professor thing. my intelligence is high and one thing about this life I've lead is I've seen and experienced many many things that the average person never will. it is my hope that I can use that knowledge and subsequent wisdoms to pass down to the next generation of those who stand out and don't "fit in". give them a glimpse into the world through the eyes of someone that sees things differently. did you know in a given year an average of 35% of Mensa members are homeless? must mean intelligence is a disease, hmm? really it just speaks to the different way we see the world. it's an entirely different place through the eyes of people like me. I ask people to remember just a couple things. first our great country (United States) was founded by people just like me. those that don't "fit in" , that stand out, that dare to challenge social norms. it's quite sad here we are such a relatively short time later and there is no place for someone of the same mindset or outlook. the second is, conformity is comfort, Diversity is strength. I'm not saying people dumb ignorant or sheep for choosing the normal choice and melding in with their fellows and their norms. I Am asking not to be judged for walking the tougher path. the path that costs more personally, yet, contributes more the strength of the whole. it's easy to pretend it will never rain again when the sun is shining brightly and everyone is having a good time together. come hurricane season though, you might find it's helpful to know someone who can weather a storm. maybe try looking out for that person when the sun is still shining. since that's the time when you and most shine. one day the storms will roll in, and you may find the shoes is on the other foot when it's their time to shine. Diversity is strength.

you know what I would like to see ? People who own companies give 1 homeless person a job. if every company hired 1 more person that was homeless , in a matter of time our homeless number would almost diminish, but then again since a lot of companies are publically traded and PTCs are so selfish with money that even though they could put an end to the homeless problem, they wont, they are just to selfish.

also, fun fact, there's most abandoned houses in the US than there are homeless people. Give them all a useful job and one of those houses (while teaching responsibility like having them pay the taxes on it and utilities) and in a few short years they are self-sufficient.

Ærik Bjørnsson empty houses are results of no jobs bad neighborhoods,drugs etc... . I do like your idea,if it was only that simple ..if houses were given to homeless only small per cent could maintain or benefit ..

the fact that abandon houses out number homeless is ironic &sad
