350Z Drift Build #5 - Kaaz 2 Way LSD & Whiteline Diff Bushings

Getting rid of the stock LSD in the 350Z and replacing it with the Kaaz 2 way limited slip diff. Also took the opportunity to replace the diff bushings with Whiteline bushings at the same time.

I've got a hydraulic press but it's at my house not at the workshop. I used it to press the bearings on to the new diff but couldn't be bothered to take the whole diff case home just to press out the 2 bushings on it. It wouldn't have helped with the main one on the subframe anyway

hello guy Nice youtube channel, i love your content I have a 350z for drift/grip and daily and my vlsd is really not good... This kaaz is still good after 5 years of use? He is not too noisy for daily driving? i want a 1.5 way and maybe the super Q version

Definitely get the super Q version if its a road car. The non super Q version is very clunky and unpleasant lol also yeah 1.5 way is definitely more pleasant than 2 way on the road

It's cool to see how much technical progress you have made. At the start of the dedication-channel, bald yoda was always there to help you. Now you're almost doing it by yourself! Luckily bald yoday is there to save the day. ;) Keep up the good work!

nice that will skid loads better than the stock lsd. did you not need to set backlash and pre load on it?

I checked the backlash and tooth contact pattern and all looked ok. Well the backlash was ever so slightly out when I measured it once but when I checked it again it was ok... Theres no whining noise when driving it so I'm just gonna assume it's fine lol

Glad you got it sorted mate.. You definitely need a compressor and tools.. Did you get the RB arch fitted to the '86 yet?

not yet as the wheel still isn't sitting right in the wheel arch even after I replaced the bent bolt on the lower control arm yesterday. Need to figure out what's causing that

Hi Chris, have you still got this 2-way diff fitted? Are you doing Drift Cup with the Kaaz 2-way?Any good? Better than a welded? My 180 (welded) diff is noisy (clunky). Thinking that a 2-way would solve it.

This one was clunky as hell tbh lol worse than a lot of welded diffs. But I've since replaced it with the SuperQ version and it's noticeably smoother and quieter. If you're not going to drive it on the road much though then I wouldn't worry about it really. I only replaced mine cos I broke the old one (because I didn't replace the ring gear bolts and they stretch when you install them)

I bought an 86 a few weeks ago now and I live around 10 minutes away from Rockingham so I've been hoping to see you about but always seem to miss you, what events have you got planned this year? I'll be at the luxury motor show next weekend and goodwood festival of speed in July, plus I'm always up for anything at Rockingham!

ChrisDrift, the car is great! Had to replace the primary's for some pilot sport 4's because they were taking me by surprise in the wet too often and I do too much long distance driving to clients! I'll pop it in my calendar and try and make it down, should be all good as its bank holiday! I go to Rockingham often but never to a drift day so will be good to see what they're like :)

just a big shop car park late at night. The other alternative is to get the "Super Q" version which is a lot quieter and also doesn't require the figure 8 bedding in process

You can but you need a slightly different model of the Kaaz LSD. They do one that replaces the vlsd and one that replaces the open diff. If you search around on Google you should find it

ChrisDrift should one use a VLSD casing and ring and pinion. I’m not sure if there is any difference in strength. The ring and pinions should be R200 on both no ?

I have had 2 Kaaz diffs in 2 different S13's and they are a bit clunky at first but to quiet down a bit. That said, slow parking lot turns are always noisy and fun.

Z1 makes a diff bushing tool for the main bushing the elephant ears aren't that bad

Get a proper electric impact gun will be as strong as a air gun Milwaukee fuel or a dewalt xr

Yeah I've been looking into those but Sean got an electric one that's pretty weak (not any stronger than my regular drill) so I'm trying to avoid ending up with something like that

ChrisDrift Milwaukee fuel are over 1000 nm if you get the good one if not find your local snap on or mac dealer mac do one that's 1600 nm there a lot powerfuller that most air guns
