In this video I cut down a bunch of small saplings around the woodyard to open and clean up the woods. I used the ‪@WoodMaxxPower‬ MX-8800 pto wood chipper behind the ‪@Kubotatractorcorp‬ L3901 to chip up the trees.

It does exactly what they advertise, fyi the MX series is made in America with higher quality parts than the WM, if you can afford the price jump I’d highly recommend it!

Like I’ve said before, it sure is nice to have the right equipment for the job! That said, chippers of any kind give me the willies. Kind of like PTO shafts. Disrespect them for one second and you can have a really bad day. Stay safe Jake and thanks for sharing.

The chipper is quite a machine. No real risk of Pto danger considering your engaging the Pto from the seat of the tractor. I’d say there more risk of getting sucked into the chipper than Pto.

@@DudeRanchDIY Agree on your point about your PTO situation with the chipper. I was speaking in general about them. So many horrific stories about people getting hurt, dismembered or killed. They give me the creeps. That’s “blink of the eye” shiz.

I can not believe there is no shield on the PTO shaft. I know it is some what shielded but you could still get a sleeve in it and then goes your arm. Stay safe.

There was a shield and it quickly fell off. The Pto is engaged from the seat of the tractor, when using the chipper you are about 6’ behind the shaft. You have a higher chance of getting pulled in the chipper than the shaft.

I have a Mahindra Max 28xl. I think it 23hp at the rear PTO. Will it handle the maxx 8800?

It will, they advertise 20 hp Pto rear minimum. It will just take much longer and probably won’t be too happy about larger diameter hardwoods.

You will split a piece down to less than 6 in but you will chip a 6 inch piece ??????

Absolutely, one 6” round of wood makes two pieces of firewood. Not worth my time. The chips are pore valuable to me to suppress underbrush from growing in my newly cleared woods.

Heavens sake man get the shields on your pto. I know of 3 farmers killed by those things.
