Sir, does lowering the value of shunt resistance increase sensitivity of any measurement?
@HaseebElectronics3 жыл бұрын
it is always selected in milli-ohms, if it is selected higher value, it will consume a large amount of supply voltage, so it is always selected as low as possible ohmic value. for example, at 200 ampere current a 0.01 ohm or 10 milli ohm resistance will drop 2 volt (200 x 0.01= 2 volt) which is enough for a operational amplifier input, if at same current a 1 ohm resistance so it will (200x 1= 200 volt) so 1 ohm shunt will drop 200 volt, which is a huge amount of voltage, which cannot be used for any control purpose. so the shunt resistance value is always selected as low as possible to make the circuit stable sensitive

@HaseebElectronics Жыл бұрын
yes it is exactly the same there are 2 methods to detect the current in inverter ac 1. resistance in IGBT emitter pin and sensing the voltage using opamp 2. using CT current Transformer in AC input line or in dc rail

So XL is not resistance as we know it. it is inductive reactance and is also measured in ohms. When the motor cannot move or difficult to move it is this inductive reactive that reduces. And this inductive reactance is also measured as resistance. My mind sees that if something is not moving or fights to move it means it has more resistance compare the something that can move easily. Experimentally if a motor doesn't move or resist to move, has more load on it etc. it gets hot. It is hard to picture it in my mind. Then we have impedance, I assume that is different than inductive reactance. And reluctance etc. So when the error code (over current) comes up on a diagnostic screen, it means the motor is having a hard time moving due to load or internal stress or whatever, or could it be anything? When I took the bldc motor out of the washing machine along with all the computer and everything. On the user inerface I put it on drain and spin. Since I had no water hooked up to it of course, no drum to spin etc, I figured what is important is that I had the door as closed. The motor ran. I said to myself alright it works. Well, it worked again the next around when I wanted to show off. But then after that it didn't. Error code over current came up. And it never came out of it again. I gave up. I still have the control panel sitting on the shelf and wondering what happened. I don't know if the motor needs to actually turn something, have something to do or the computer will show as if it is not moving or resisting to move which doesn't make sense.
@HaseebElectronics3 жыл бұрын
you are absolutely right actually i try to explain in very simple and lowest level to make it some understandable for a layman technical staff. so explanation of a function in very easy and understandable ways, gives good approach to understand the concept for those people who have poor knowledge as it is a very deep theory of magnetism in rotary induction devices, provided a summarized view to understand the function of a shunt resistance when a rotor stuck or faces high friction of any other obstruction, it will cause to increase excessive current flow, so its magnetic filed cancels the input magnetic filed, because the counter emf causes cancellation of primary flux, it causes to reduce inductive reactance, which causes to draw more current in very simple words, "excessive resistance in mechanical movement of any rotary motor cause to reduce input resistance, which causes to draw more current than the rated drive parameters" *please accept my best regards and special thanks for watching my video in detail and a valuable discussion*
@alchemy13 жыл бұрын
@@HaseebElectronics Are you saying that no load on that washing machine motor caused overcurrent error message because that couldn't be the case as all that would mean is the motor easily moves, if anything it would be I guess undercurrent (if it exists). So I am assuming the issue maybe other than that. I should mention that when I turn that round magnetic drum (LG washing machine) by hand the center shaft/bearing has enough wear to cause the magnetic outer drum to be wobbly enough perhaps. Someone gave me the washing machine to play around with and said it wasn't working right. So I just took it apart and decided to see if that motor will turn on the bench just for fun. So I guess my question is, would a worn bearing which I assume would cause the field between the rotor and the stator to not be even (the little wobble) would cause overcurrent? Thanks for all your videos. I watch them over and over and over.
@HaseebElectronics3 жыл бұрын
In your case if the control card is applying power to the bldc motor and it is not spinning up, that means that there is some sort of mechanical obstruction in rotation (bearing or misalignment Corrosion etc) Of there is drive failure Might be some ipm or igbt may be facing issue or in drive circuit Over current problem is most of the time from electronics circuitry

In practice shunt resistors for high current requirements have very low values, usually a milliOhm or less. The traditional use of a shunt with a given microammeter needle movement is well understood but not very useful for today's trend toward data acquisition and system electronic monitoring and control. Meaning, the shunt signal will have to be amplified in order to provide an input to instrumentation, and this is where the difficulties begin because of the high gain required, cancellation of common mode noise and influence of thermal emfs.
