Thank you for the review! Even after almost 60 years of gun work, I still enjoy - and keep an open mind about - the performance of newer c-l-p products on the market. Love Hoppes No. 9, and its identifiable scent brings back years of good sporting memories. Thanks again!

These are always interesting, although I don't know how realistic the burnt powder test is as it relates to gun cleaning. The powder isn't burnt in the chamber or barrel, but rather in the bullet casing. I do understand the need to remain consistent however. I think It would also be nice to see a test of toxic vs non-toxic cleaners. Hoppe's against something like Slip 2000 725 cleaner /degreaser.. A test of their Gun Lube CLP would be interesting as well, as it is also Mil-Spec and has a NSN # meaning it's in use by the military.

Larger bore guns, like shotguns burn some powder in the barrel. Muzzle flash is powder burning. Black powder guns are the most prone to powder fouling.

Different CLP, same result. I've always said that a CLP is a compromise. $13 for a 4oz bottle is absurd. Only thing CLPs are good for is to separate money from you.
