When I first started picking there were a handful of pickers getting the message out that Masterlock was a poor quality product. Now they’re hundreds of pickers getting the message to thousands of subscribers. Masterlocks will inevitable pay the price for their contempt of its customers, and their demise will be irreversible. 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧

Well put my friend. I constantly tell people to do a quick YT search for the lock they want BEFORE they buy it. I can only hope my/our videos help the general public make a better choice. The simple fact that ML doesn't seem to take any of this as constructive criticism is mind blowing.
@Westhelockpicker3 жыл бұрын
One thing I'll give to masterlock, they must of had excellent marketing at some point because the people who know nothing about locks still think there the best! Older guys at my hunting camp were talking about the lock on the gate and I heard one say well it was a masterlock I just walked away because it would of fell on deaf ears even if I showed them
@AlbertLebel3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I deal with the same thing all the time. I give them credit for staying in business 100 yrs but they sure do scam the general public by selling such junk.
@Westhelockpicker3 жыл бұрын
@@AlbertLebel yes they do but look at kwikset. Probably 80% of homes in the US use em for door locks and you mise well use a piece of gum. I've been getting the Lishi's and you should see that. Someone who never even looked at a lock could watch a video and get in with one of those

After about a minute he handed them back to me I said your paying for their knowledge, tools, license and insurance incase worthless bums try and sue them

Thank you, I was just about to buy one for securing a trail cam. It would have been nice to be able to adjust it for different sized trees. I'm having serious doubts now.
@AlbertLebel3 жыл бұрын
Happy to help. Those trail cams get stolen often. It’s awful people will stoop so low. Maybe try some steel strapping. Since they can be opened while strapped down you can use something more permanent. I hope you get it worked out. Have a wonderful weekend

Ya Master lock still has people thinking their locks are great because of that old ad on which they shoot a hole right through one and it stays locked. What isn’t shown is pretty much every other lock on the market will survive the same thing. All they’re good at is marketing. 🫤

I remember opening up my first 9 rated Masterlock. I made a comment at the time that it took longer to unpack it than it did to pick it. Seems like nothing has changed.

As Popeye said “Yas pays your nickel, ya takes ya chances.” It is just the luck of the draw as to what kind of bitting your key has on any lock. Thanks for showing us. 🦊👍

Any better alternatives for an adjustable length lock like this? As much as I'd like to have a usual chuckle at Master Locks expense, I don't know of a single better alternative when this type of adjustable length lock is needed. Need something for my skis, got a Ski Key for resorts that have Ski Key racks but want a deterrent for the resorts that don't have the locking racks. Without being able to pull out all the slack in the cable around the bindings other basic cable locks are pointless. All the other options have a cable just a millimeter or two thick and a plastic housing, super easy to snap off just by using the skis as leverage. Not really worried about it getting picked, many much easier targets at a resort, but I'd at least like something that can't be easily bypassed like these and won't just snap off with a good yank.

You people commenting about how this video is somehow going to affect Master locks customer base are just foolish. 99.9% of people that buy Master locks or buy any locks at the hardware store never watch these videos they never think twice about it so the few thousands or even a hundred thousand people that watch these videos won't even put a dent in the sales of Master Lock
@AlbertLebel3 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with that. I always tell people to do a YT search before buying locks or many other things for that matter but I know it mostly falls on deaf ears. We can only do our part and try educate folks. Plus, I enjoy tinkering and picking them when I can so for me it's a win either way.
@archie34734 Жыл бұрын
I bought one of these knowing they could easily be defeated with bolt cutters. Now I know the locks are basically useless. Still no worries I only bought the thing because its adjustable and I use it as a visual deterrent. Just like steering wheel locks which are equally useless.
