Prior 35M here, yeah when you get out people want you baaaad. I still get random calls 10 years after I got out for jobs overseas or with government entities. Coolest contract was Germany though lol. I have friends who spend a year at a time overseas with companies, make bank, and come home, all with a beard lol. I’d say do 4 years, if you enjoy it go warrant and 35L. If not, get out and contract, don’t mess with the 3 letter agencies, unless that’s your end goal.

Any idea what 35m looks like in the regiment. Currently looking at that once I'm done with training
@InvaderKush
@InvaderKush 3 жыл бұрын
@@314rappin Umm not sure, I was always with Division HQ, or another HUMINT group. However, we can be placed anywhere though, CAV, SF, etc. Shit they would even roll up to my buddys base and pick him up randomly to do field interrogations lol. I'd say don't worry about it until you get your actual orders to your first duty station. I got mine in the field, two weeks before graduation.

Hey I am also interested in being a human intelligence collector, specifically I am looking at the 2 year program and then 2 yesrs of reserves to get my masters in international relations. What do you think about only doing a 2 year active duty contract? Do you see this as a viable option?
@InvaderKush
@InvaderKush Жыл бұрын
@@bigglopez770 Umm the schooling for HUMINT is pretty intense, i got there in may, and didnt leave until Nov. If you can get into a class right away when you get to AIT then it would be like a 4 month thing got training. If youre willing to miss a semester or two for basic, and AIT, or do online during AIT, then i'd say go for it.

Chaos did another great video. Not being an intel guy, he missed the whole source operations piece, but that's ok. Having been in charge of many HUMINT soldiers keep in mind, that it is a hazardous MOS, in counterinsurgency and CT HUMINT soldiers are a High Value Target for the insurgents to kill. Loss several during my time in Iraq. BLUF, you eliminated the HUMINT collector, you limit the intelligence getting to the other side.

Do HUMINT collectors see combat? For example, are they attached to maneuver elements that they are supporting for missions?
@itsmemayor
@itsmemayor 3 жыл бұрын
Yes we do get attached but it depends on the scenario and honestly how much that unit trusts our combat skills / training. I received a lot of combat training and it came in handy when talking to combat units. Basically if you can hang and you don’t take too long questioning or running your op then you’re good. Added note that he did miss out on source ops but that’s because it’s classified. Interrogation training is mostly declassified and when you move to source ops all classifications go up.

So 35m is the mos that I wanted from the jump. Around January of this year, Recruiter said I had to take the DLAB to qualify. I took the test, got a “good” score (would qualify for some languages) but recruiter said not high enough to get 35m. Is this true? Is there a way around it? I really want 35m. Thank you!
@patgarrett3746
@patgarrett3746 5 жыл бұрын
Did you get this MOS? Right now I think the score you need on the DLAB in 95. I've been a 35M for 10 yrs now in the reserves. It's a great MOS, but you really can only do the job outside of the country because we are not allowed to collect on US citizens. Now if you go 35L (Counterintelligence Agent) no language is required and you can work in the states. The only thing with the 35L MOS is you have to be an E4 to go to the course. You used to have to be 21 and an E5 but they need CI now so they are relaxing the requirements.
