Great kit, quality components, simple process, and easy instructions. Recommended. Thank you, Frank. My saw's cap connectors were indeed soldered on so I had to apply the iron whilst simultaneously using pliers to pull the connectors off. Not sure why they used spade connectors *and* soldered. Never seen that before.

Frank, Great video. I just bought a 36-725T2 and when I first ran it, it started up fine, but after running for several minutes continuously, I noticed a smell and so I stopped the saw and a wisp of white smoke floated up from the blade area. I stopped it, then restarted it, same thing. So I stopped it and turned the blade by hand (yes unplugged) and it sounded crunchy, for lack of better description. I then pulled the covers off the motor and the noise was coming from the fan end. I removed the fan and a chunk of black plastic fell out of the fan clutch, so I removed it, along with the centrifugal weights and springs, cork disk and the plate over the start switch, put the fan back on and now it starts slowly. After watching your video I understand there is no power going to the start capacitor because all the parts that would close that switch are now off. But it runs OK, once its up to speed. SO...my question is, do I repair the mechanism or just go with it, or am I slowly murdering my run capacitor? Also, do you have a website for selling your kit?

You'll need those parts. What I think happened was delta installed the fan incorrectly and that led to the failure. No, it did about a year ago, that's when I first replaced the starter and run capacitors and it fixed the problem. Now, it doesn't do anything when I turn on the power. Today I replaced both capacitors again hoping it would fix the problem but it didn't. So I watched your video again closely and blew out all the sawdust that was built up inside the case and adjusted the starter switch as it looked like it wasn't in the right spot acording to your video. That seemed to have fixed it as I was able to run it for about 20 minutes. I then turned it off and did some other things and when I tried to turn it on again 30 minutes later the same thing, nothing, like it has no power to it, but it does. I think the starter switch is bad although it's just a guess on my part. What do you think?@@Frank-bg6xz

Frank, I may be ordering the kit from you shortly. How do I know if my saw has been updated from the factory? I bought the saw from Lowes Dec 2021. So far it's been fine. However, I have to run an extension cord to my kitchen which has a 20 amp circuit. I tried the saw on a 15 amp circuit with the shop vac and it tripped the circuit pretty quickly. I'll be running a 20 amp dedicated circuit from the panel in my garage/shop very soon. oh, dummy me, got rid of the box, so I don't know the manufacturer date. maybe it's in the manual. Thanks for the great video and Delta should be paying you for your expertise and help.

They changed how they assemble the saws, but they still have issue just not often. Running the saw and shop vac on the same circuit I would expect it to trip. You can probably get by running only one on a 15A circuit, but 20A dedicatd is the way to go. Also, use a 12ga extension cord. On the cross bar of the saw base is the manufacturers tag. The date is part of the serial number

@frankcoproductsllc53532 жыл бұрын
It could be that the start capacitor is bad or the limit switch in the saw needs adjustment. Sometimes the switch is too close, which causes the capacitor to burn out. Othertimes the switch is too far away and the capacitor isn't in circuit to assist in starting. I would first readjust the switch in the saw by loosening the screw which secures the switch's bracket to the casting of the motor. Once slightly loosened you should be able to back the switch off of the metal tab, then slowly and carefully move the switch closer to the tab. Just after you hear the switch "click" to the on position, hold and secure the bracket via the screw. You could test that the switch is in the correct position by measuring the resistance across the blue and black wire at the switch, when on it should be very low resistance. Once the saw starts that metal plate will move away from the tab which opens the switch turning it off. The kit usually resolves this problem, minus a burnt out start winding of course. Unfortunately I no longer manufacture or distribute the kit.

@Frank-bg6xz2 жыл бұрын
Are you using an extension cord? If the total circuit length is very long this could result in a large voltage drop. This is why a 12awg or better cord is important. If you're not on an extension cord, anything from the condition of the blade to the capacitors can be to blame and would require a process of elimination method to pinpoint.

This saw has been out for a couple of years and you would think Delta would have this problem fixed by now. I am inclined to run my saw as it is delivered and if it fails I will have your repair kit as a back up. If it fails will I cause other damage to the saw? I am inclined to take a risk. I intend to nominate you for President in 2024. The clowns we have need to retire and go back to their basements!
@Frank-bg6xz2 жыл бұрын
There are a few videos I've published, but they are not part of a series or anything. That was my initial intention but I decided to keep things simple. The issues these motors had was a combination of assembly errors at the factory is low quality materials. The design of the centrifugal mechanism/fan is hideous and has not changed. I think they may have improved the material for the brake pads since I don't hear the complaints as often. The overall design has not changed. You can run the saw right from the box and keep the kit as a plan B. There is little risk to doing this, but if the saw acts up once don't think that the issue will resolve itself. Take it apart and perform a thorough inspection. The people who continue to use the saw after it acts up are the one's who do the most damage.

@Frank-bg6xz3 жыл бұрын
Good question. It's not something that needs to be done immediately, although I recommend it. Waiting until something fails carries a risk. Sometimes, not often, the windings are what fails. Again the risk is marginal. I'd say for what I've had less than 1% result in failed windings. Knowing what to look for helps. If your saw is slow to start, seams to slow down during cutting or stalls. Holding the power switch for the saw to start,overheating... These are signs that failure is to come.

@@Frank-bg6xz Hi Frank, just ran across your KZbin video about the Delta table saw repair kit. I bought my saw 6 months ago and I’m now experiencing occasional motor hums and not start. How do I place an order for a kit?

@Frank-bg6xz2 жыл бұрын
@@chrismiziniak6343 The microswitch is a fairly common part that can be sourced from any electronics part supplier and even ebay. Capacitors can be found on amazon. The felt brake pads I cut those by hand from sheets of wool felt.

Frank, I just bought this saw (being delivered next week) and of course, just came across all of the negative reviews/issues. It seems that the commentary here and across the internet has subsided in the last 10-12 months. Has the issue been fixed since then? Should I keep the saw and get your kit, or stop the order and get a different saw?
@Frank-bg6xz2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say the entire problem has been completely resolved, but I think the manufacturer has improved how the saw is being assembled and it appears to have helped. I still get a person from time to time that runs into trouble with their new saw. Most buy the kit as assurance now a days.

my delta saw 36-725 runs about 70% rpm, very hard to rip a 2x4. any ideals what going on?
@Frank-bg6xz4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a failing run capacitor or the starting mechanism on the fan is sticking. Be sure you're on a 20a circuit using no extension cord or a 12ga extension cord minimum

Frank Hi watched your video and I think I ned your help. I’m mechanicaly inclined but not so much with testing electric. My saw won’t turn on. I bought this saw from a warehouse thinking it was new but someone pulled the switch and I can’t return it. Looking for assistance at this point. I have the bottom open. I’m hoping I can get your phone number to text you or FaceTime you and if I need your kit I of course will buy it from you.
