@emmamcvicker1733 жыл бұрын
@@rose-cq5xp after longer shifts (like nights shifts in a row or longer hours in a row) doctors and hospital staff tend to get a day off just to catch up on their rest and make sure they are in tip-top shape to perform for their patients. This video made me so happy that I was in a near fatal MVA third year of medical school and my loans were all forgiven for total permanent disability. I was a level 1 trauma and had over a dozen very major surgeries in the past decade and was having them a week apart at one point. I would be pissed as hell if my care was in the hands of a person who was up for 36 hours straight as on a cognitive basis it’s hardly different from being legally drunk. Let alone someone first assisting or God forbid performing the surgery. She couldn’t go to sleep after 30 hours and had to do 6 or 8 hours of tele-visits instead? No other person could take over for her? What type of program is this?! Looks like NYU to me. I was at Stony Brook myself which is not far from there. Anyway, you can see the lengths that they go through to find loopholes in the work hour limits. And why would there be such an urgency to get patients in after rescheduling when many of these procedures are elective lol. To the point where someone is working this long and sleeping 2 hours in 40 and apparently not even protected after this call and has to go back in for another day of this? This is why my former colleagues who completed their degrees and residency look like they aged 20 years in just 7 years. This is not safe or healthy. 24 hours I can understand, but 36 is just like in the 1970’s. I am just so grateful that now I get to make my own hours and to have been able to have two kids I actually can see and enjoy growing up instead of flushing my prime years down the hospital drain like this. I actually work with lots of MD and DMD students with everything from dental/residency/medical apps to staying in medical or dental school to USMLE / NBDE and am thankful none of them are gunning for surgery. This is just not cool at all and no state to be in when slicing into people.
@fn8772 Жыл бұрын
can this program seriously not afford to employ another resident? both of them would be working 18 hours shifts as well im sure that should be enought to satisfy the sadistic desires of any attending just as well as making one resident do 36hrs. seriously, even if it's a given that the hospital administration does not give a damn about the well being of the resident it begs the question: are they so short-sighted that they can't see that someone who hasn't slept in 30 hours might be more prone to making mistakes which endangers the patients? or do they not give a damn about their patients either lol

Can I have sarpe surgery done to expand my palate if i am missing my first molor and tooth number 10 in the front. I am 28 year old female had previous ortho treatment that went really bad. I wore a palate expander when I was 21 and it left my pallate very uneven. I have root resorption to and will need dental implants on some teeth. In order to fix this mess I will need surgery. I am just wondering how this will be done if I am missing some teeth. How can they expand my palate if my molor is missing or can they expand it by the bone without using the tooth. I am also wondering about the dental implants to. Should i wait to after ortho to get the implants or can they put a temporary tooth theRE so I wont have a gap or just leave the gap How does that work?
