Serious question, how is this different from lamp black watercolor. I've been playing around with the lamp black from my set, making some monochrome sketches. Looks very similar.
@WendyBale2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay, I am just now seeing this question. Short answer is lamp black is made from soot produced by oil and charcoal is burned up wood. The binder is probably the same for the liquid charcoal and the lampblack watercolor. I have not used the lampblack watercolor in this way, but you have me curious and I want to do a comparison. I'm planning to do an update to this video sometime soon and this is a great idea to further the study of this medium. Thanks for asking!

@Wendy Bale Thanks for your answer. And yeah a side-by-side comparison would be interesting.

Thank you for sharing how you use the liquid charcoal!! Do you also varnish the canvas at the end to preserve the work?
@WendyBale4 жыл бұрын
adelacreative yes. I use Windsor & Newton Spray fixative you seal the work.

when it dries ,do i still have to use fixative like normal charcoal ?
@WendyBale5 ай бұрын
It is not as smeary. I usually end up using dry charcoal along with it, so I do the fixative. But if you only use the liquid it could be fine without fix.
