I’m so tired of the bigger KZbin channels blowing sunshine up our you-know-what’s and constantly giving such high praise to these super expensive experiences, like they’re on commission if any of us actually dine there. For that kind of money, every single morsel of food must be perfect. While leaving a comment card for you to fill out at the end was better than what Monsieur Paul offered, that’s not enough. I’m sorry you spent so much money on a mediocre meal, but you have done the rest of us a tremendous service by warning us. Real Kaiseki is expensive, even in Japan, but it looks like they focused here on presentation and appearance and not on the quality of ingredients, preparation and on flavor. It can't just be pretty; it has to be delicious. I thnk that a lot of these dishes were over-complicated. Good Japanese cuisine tends to focus on a few good strong flavors, so when a tiny dish has so many different flavors and ingredients, it detracts rather than adds to the flavor. Even so, they even messed up tuna sashimi and steak, which is pretty inexcusable.

True. But you do know countries or their own spin on things. American food was totally different when I lived in Japan. Mexican food in america than in Mexico and different from Japan. It's still authentic. It's authentic for that area. I was amazed when I went to American restaurants in Japan like Fridays and saw their spin on dishes like a dallas hamburger. But it was authentic. It was authentic Japanese American food.
@geoffk777
@geoffk777 14 күн бұрын
@@lesterine77 It depends. Some restaurants in Japan are extremely authentic--Italian and French restauants in particular can be very scrupulous. American restauarnts do tend to compromise, but I know a few that are also quite authentic. For example, there's a Southern Soul food restauant in Ebisu that I love. There's nothing wrong with changing foods for local palattes--nearly every restauant at Disney does this. But it still has to be tasty and worth the money and this meal failed on both counts. To make things worse, in the video we could hear the servers explaining how traditional and authentic the food was. I'm not complaining that that the food at Takumi was inauthentic (although a lot of it was). I'm complaing that they prioritized looks and expensive ingrediants over the taste of the final result and prepared some items in a sloppy way. And overcharged for the result.

Besides, she can still do an honest review and get what she paid for. Also, why do you pretend to speak for everybody? I would like to know how it would be handled if she did send it back. Bc I can promise, if my medium rare steak were well done, I'm sending it back just like the vast majority would do. So it could be argued that her review isn't authentic or accurate.

Yeah, it's insane. I think these places just offer a veggie/vegan option so they can say they have one, but yeah it's basically just like 'get fucked'. Tbh, even as shitty as it is, I sort of expect it from a place like this, because the idea is that they're looking for a certain amount of 'value' from each table, so having a way cheaper veggie option would mess with that, but the most absurd example I've seen is Eleven Maddison Park. Used to be a normal 3 mich star restaurant and then went completely vegan, but still priced as if they're serving oysters from the lost city of Atlantis. LOL

Wagyu served like that is unacceptable. Full stop. There is No Excuse and the "chef" and server knew it was unacceptable. These restaurants in their parks are meant to churn out people and 💰 for Disney not a fine dining experience. If you want actual fine dining at Disney then go to Victoria and Albert's. If you want it near Disney then both the Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria have many great choices. The only way Disney will learn is if they can't fill these places up with suckers. Too many other Disney You Tubers always claim these are such great restaurants 😏. I guess if I was getting my meal comped, even a not great one I would like it better too. 🤨 So I am glad we have an honest You Tuber out here doing Walt's Work.

I agree with you not sending food back because you don’t like it. For example, the miso soup was sweeter than you liked. That’s a matter of preference and another customer might love that soup and think it’s wonderful. HOWEVER, to me there’s a difference when they obviously cook something incorrectly. For the price you’re paying, your steak should be cooked how you requested and if it’s not you should say something. I understand not wanting something for free. But you don’t have to accept a refund even if they offer it. But they should be made aware when things aren’t cooked properly. That’s significantly different than a matter of personal taste and preference.

I generally love to be surprised by culinary experiences, but restaurants where the staff spends minutes explaining the 'manual' to you often feel forced and stiff to me. I compare this to a completely different experience: Last October, I spent a few days in Wrocław and had dinner every evening at 'Restaurant Breslau' - Silesian cuisine at its finest, perfectly cooked and presented. The place was very stylish, located right in the heart of the historic old town, yet the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. I had a Silesian Heaven (Śląskie Niebo in Polish) and sweet pierogi for dessert - both were fantastic. On top of that, they served amazing schnapps, and the staff and owner were incredibly friendly. Incidentally, 'Restaurant Breslau' is among the highest-rated places in the city. I’ve also eaten in Japan many times, and even in the most ceremonious and traditional settings, the atmosphere around the food has always been incredibly relaxed and enjoyable. That’s the complete opposite of what’s shown here - no stiff pretension, just genuine, professional hospitality.

The only way I can see the wagyu situation happen and it be a sincere accident is if she confused you with another customer who ordered well done. Which can't really happen since restaurants track that with tickets and table numbers, but that's the only way I can see this being an accident. Because the only explanation and probably what really happened is too many people not doing their job, or not caring. Chef and server are both supposed to make sure the order is correct before serving. That means two professional "fine dining" cast members either thought it was great to serve, or didn't check at all / don't care and served anyway.

Counter service can be a real crapshoot. Order a salad with no meat, no cheese on it. You would think you were safe eating something like that. I was wrong. We went in with multiple families and unfortunately one other family member ordered the same thing as I did, it came with salad dressing, but I didn’t put it on. Both of us that ordered the salad were running to bathrooms, nonstop one after the other to say I didn’t stand in line to get on any rides was an understatement.😢 What a waste of hard earn money to get into a park just so I can get sick from their food and all I get to visit is the bathroom. 😢 I will never eat in another park or if I do it will bring bread fries something I can’t get sick off of. I’ll just feel like crap eating it in the Florida heat.

@@jdrew5367at Disneyland we had a polish dog from a small counter service restaurant. I did not eat all of mine because I wasn’t very hungry but my husband ate his. Within an hour his face was turning every shade of gray. I’ve noticed there has been a slow downward trend to all Disney World restaurants and the general public knows this because dinning reservations have never been so easy to get and when we go all the restaurants are not completely filled with many empty tables. Disney has had this “gotcha” mentality since reopening after Covid and I guess they seem to think this makes them profits. Not for long.

Thank you for this very informative video on your omakase experience at Disney World. Although I've never had an omakase dinner, I'm very critical of my Japanese food. It was disappointing to hear that the majority of your meal was under-par, but glad you at least had some good food while there. By your description of the bland fish, it seems the fish was not fresh, otherwise it would have had that wonderfully fresh taste. As for some of the other dishes with the beautiful plating, it seems like they were trying to make it a Japanese fusion restaurant. I normally do not care for fusion food, but it's always seemed to me that fusion would give a chef an opportunity to be truly creative in bringing out new and unique flavor combinations that had never been tried. I look forward to seeing what you have in store for the new year. Merry Christmas!

I agree that you should be judging what you are getting, without any fuss over complaints to get bills discounted or such. However, with things like overcooked steak, shells in food, plastic, you need to stop reviewing and start being a normal customer. Paying 35 extra, you can't justify not complaining and getting it recooked to mid rare.
