It's such a change to see an honest review of Disney food. That was an awful experience. Being served shell in two separate dishes and then being presented with a dirty glass is absolutely shocking and totally unacceptable.

I completely agree. This is also DISNEY which you would think would have all the T's crossed and I's dotted. I also understand not waiting to complain and make a scene but you are pushing out over $200 for one meal for a solo experience. I would have wanted better for her if I was her server.

At this price point, the expectation is for the service and food to be flawless. Yes mistakes happen, but 2 dishes w shells and then a dirty glass speaks to some serious problems in that restaurant.

Having worked in kitchens - seasoning a dish "properly" is a dark art - especially white fish. People have many different palattes and tolerances to seasoning levels. Chefs are always taught to slightly over season as some "punch" is lost during the cooking process. With that being said - the one big thing I noticed was the "thyme" sauce that was served on the plate with the snapper was an shitty color of brown - maybe it was the lighting. That unappetizing palette color really doesn't belong on a plate. I wonder if they really have a chef from France working in the kitchen....

You are much younger than me, but these kinds of experiences remind me of a prankster show that was on tv years ago. They had people thinking they were getting great quality, unique food, but it was ordinary things. The two examples that stuck in my mind was #1 the expensive water, that came right from the tap in the kitchen, and #2 was a "French mousse", that was simply cool whip. People were raving over these items, because they thought the price meant "great", but at the end, the pranksters told them the truth. Just shows that people can be swayed by fancy presentations, atmosphere and hype. Glad you are truthful with your reviews.

How can you screw up ANY kind of potato? If you don’t use butter, or ANY seasoning, it is possible to screw up potatoes! Finding a bone in your fish? There's a few different reasons I can think of why they'd present the jam that way. Legally they might have to present it that way either due to having to disclose / show customers it isn't homemade, or is presented that way as part of a partnership with the company (like how Woody's Lunchbox has Babybel cheese). Another simple reason is, because "it's cute". I don't know how many times I've been with people, or overheard other guests at restaurants gush about even condiments (jarred "fancy ketchup") being presented that way and thinking how "cute" they are and making sure to take whatever it was with them. I also want to say I have to commend you for always being nice and polite to your servers, even in times like this where the meal isn't ideal. It's rare.

That whole situation was ridiculous and they shouldn't have charged you. And that dirty wine glass. I hope you told them. This is another Disney ripoff. 1 year visa? They should be trained in 1 week! There are so many Disney restaurants that are garbage and overpriced. Disgusting chewing on shells. That's when they should have decided not to charge you. Really bad service and management. I'm glad you were honest. It's bad that the best part was the pallette cleanser! Takes the bad taste out of your mouth, and gets you a little drunk in order to tolerate the next course 😂!

I appreciate your reviews on this. I've heard many rave reviews about this place. I was at WDW back in September alongside a few of my friends sharing the same week as my bday. Monsieur Paul was a place of choice they wanted to eat at, but I had to back out, because I couldn't justify paying that 275$ price tag for a fixed menu. I'm actually happy you're one of the few that mentions how incredible the Flying Fish is. This was the first signature restaurant I ate in when my family and me first visited WDW and the food and the service was ace quality, so I always recommend FF. But back to this, I'm sorry that your experience here was pretty bad. I mean finding two shells in your first few bites is pretty unacceptable for a restaurant that's supposed to be of this grandiose caliber...In a way I'm kind of glad I didn't come here. I should've been braver to suggest FF, but what's done is done. I really love your honest reviews! I hope you have a wonderful holiday so far...Also if you're on the look out for awsome charcuterie, I loved Baseline Taphouse, Jock Lindsey and Wine Bar George which I ended up spending my bday dinner at.

While I realize it can be very uncomfortable sending a dish back, or being honest with the server about a dish in a restaurant like this, you're doing the place a favor when you do it. It lets the management know their product is substandard and disappointing. If they're charging that price for a meal, it should be great. There are Michelin-starred restaurants in NYC that charge about the same for a prix-fixe meal, and offer much better cuisine. The restaurant manager and chef de cuisine at Monsieur Paul should be ashamed of themselves.

I could get that meal in Paris for $50 euros and it would have been 10x better. Wow another Disney Corp. way to rip off people. That meal was awful

Thank you Kristen for a high quality video and always providing your honest opinion. This restaurant should always provide high quality dishes for that price tag. You are not being overly critical. High price tag = big expectations. We just returned from Disney as AP holders for years and can see Disney becoming complacent in certain areas. Also the candle comment took me out. Hahah 😂 love your sense of humor.

I have been to a few restaurants that are higher end price wise that serve fruit preserves like that in the mini jar...Opaline in DC is one of them. I don't mind it. The rest of the things that you mentioned though...shells in food, lipstick stained glass, lack of flavor food...that's not good. It's definitely not worth the price!

I just looked it up true French food will have limited amounts of salt compared to the fatty salty cuisine of American food.

This is true, however, when I went to France the food did have way less salt than I was used to BUT I do have to say that you could tell it WAS seasoned.

Legit reviews on food. HOWEVER, regarding candles, fire, open candles. Nope! Danger. I use oxygen, you may not be aware of people with Inogen machines…I’m grateful for the battery candles! Keep it honest though! Thank you!

I was thinking the same thing. Just too many dangers around too many random people.
