As an ACC fan I don't really want to see this happen, but if it does this is what I could see enticing FSU, Clemson, NCSU and UNC-CH agreeing to it along with the rest of the conference members. Let's say they take $48 million that is being deferred by the 3 in order to gain admission to be applied as a performance incentive. It is mostly football but basketball, baseball and other sports should account for some of the reward. So here goes. Football Champion - $15 million Final Four in BB - $5 million (split if more than one school makes it) Football 2nd place - $10 million Football 3rd place - $5 million Football 4th place - $3 million Football 5th $1.5 million Football 6th - $ 500K Baseball CWS - $3 million (split if more that one school makes it) Women's Basketball final Four - $3 million Non-Revenue Excellence - $2 million

@livingforever6157 Жыл бұрын
No they're not. Smu is an aac member. They will not earn a pro-rata. They will get 8-10 million. Cal and stanford may receive 20-24 million. They will likely take a 30% share. That means 14-16 deducted million each. The total is 34 million among the three schools. Split among 14 members, or a performance based incentive for one school. I'm not sure it will work for the 7 schools who have the most influence.
@scott2575 Жыл бұрын
@@livingforever6157 ESPN is adding $72M, SMU gets $0, Cal and Stanford start at 30% of a full share, or about $12M each, the other schools whack up the roughly $48M. Win/win/win, everybody is happy.
@rogerwalker3409 Жыл бұрын
That’s equates to 24 mil per school, per year, which is less than the current pay out per school. It’s complete garbage and dilutes the conference. Stanford and Cal is bad enough, but SMU is completely irrelevant and is a G5 school.
@scott2575 Жыл бұрын
@@rogerwalker3409 I have no idea what you are talking about. The new pool is $72M, of that, usually each new team would take $24M. That is NOT happening here. SMU is taking $0 for 7 years. CalFord start at a 30% share. Last year the share per team was $40 M, so Cal and Stanford get $12M each to start. 72-24=48. The other teams 15 split that are pocket $3M plus. Perhaps, ND gets a share, then it would be $3M per team. Free money.
@rogerwalker3409 Жыл бұрын
@@scott2575 the issue is you’re not looking past 5-7 years. The money added per team is less than the current team payouts. The “free money” for 5-7 years is immaterial, and essentially chump change as it adds what equates to a rounding error for big time programs. After 7 years, are those 3 new schools only getting $24 mil a piece and everyone gets their normal share? Is ESPN going to start paying the $40 mil per year to each of those schools as well? Or is the overall pot going to be split evenly, which means all the original teams now make less money in 7 years. You have to look at the big picture, bc not doing so is what got us into this mess. Also, adding bottom feeders from other conferences that have gone defunct does not make you a better conference.
