The only reason Cal and Stanford would fit in the ACC is? There are 10 other schools in that conference that don't care about their football programs, either.

They also have not been very good which allowed Clemson a freebie every year. The primary Alabama lesson is that you are good at what you care about. If you live and die on wins, then you are elite at everything including spending money.@@tarheel7406

Maybe Boo Corrigan and Bubba Cunningham are both smart enough to know that FSU could use the addition of Stanford and Cal as a viable reason to challenge the GoR in court. FSU says “hey, this costs even more money and we voted against it.”

SYANFORD should call Louisville right now to have a schedule for '24 and '25 Indiana just backed out on Louisville for 2 games in '24 and '25 so Louisville needs 2 games and Stanford is losing several games in '24 and '25. There is NO CHANCE Louisville says NO and Louisville gets the 3rd Highest Ratings of all ACC Teams. Get those games and say "LOOK at the great ratings". Get some PR going. NOBODY in the general public knows that Louisville outdraws all ACC teams except FSU and Clemson so the results of the TV Audience will start a BUZZ about Stanford being more valuable for TV than they thought. Stanford needs that BUZZ in the ear of ACC Country.

Its about caring about football, history in football and tv brand in football! The ACC was screwed the moment it let the BB school of tobacco road who have been running the ACC and let BB lead in negotiating a 20 year tv deal/GOR. If FB was leading things, you never sign a 20 year deal. Inflation and other conference who are already making more money would sign 1 or 2 more deals to make even more money than the ACC. IE, the SEC And B10!

@@arronfrazier7873 Without that 20-year GOR the ACC would have been raided and the PAC would have been left to wallow in irrelevancy for another cycle. That GOR was done to KEEP the ACC INTACT. That makes it a GENIUS LEVEL MOVE. The PLAN was to hold together and then EXPAND Dumbasses at FSU have RUIINED that plan and cost the ACC more than Stanford at CAL already. Dumbasses killed the Genius Level move because they can't read their own Financial Data OR the Data that shows this Expansion Makes Money. They say we want more money THEN vote against MORE MONEY because they are STUPID. They also can't read their own Contract with the ACC so they don't know that adding New Members does NOTHING to hurt their prospects of leaving. It is FREE MONEY at NO COST to what they want and these dumbasses vote against it.

All comments about NCStates No vote was very condescending. ACC is not NDs slave fb conference. NCState is better SeC fb fit than unc - not fb school. Also NCState fits Big 12 perfectly. Also NCState is a leading Carnegie R1 Research University, ahead of unc. NCState I’d NC largest public university. To suggest that only unc could afford to vote NO, but not NCState is a not to hidden condension!

Per some reports, L'VILLE, PITT & GATECH are the strongest "yes" votes outside of ND. This suggests that they have no known interest from the SEC/B1G and they don't want to go to the BIG12. All of the Mag 7 are likely actual "no" votes but are keeping a low profile.
@tarheel7406 Жыл бұрын
a) The ACC doesn't need academic or non-revenue sports prestige. STANFORD would add to that, but there's no compelling need. b) I suspect that NCSTATE has a pending SEC invite with or without UNC. c) Any potential remainders will want to keep ND happy to increase the chance of keeping the arrangement post depletion. No reason to not weak "yes" on a straw poll. d) If the ACC expands with value dilutive schools, any objectors will have a legal challenge to the GOR even if kept whole financially. e) Far better for the likely ACC remainders to settle with and release the others to get preemptive backfill done. That settlement would include future scheduling commitments far more valuable than what STANFRD/CAL could offer. f) Media markets don't mean as much for college football. There's a reason why the B1G took O/W over C/S.

I honestly was in support of both Stanford and California joining the ACC but then I started thinking about sports other than football and I do not think it would be good mentally and physically for players and athletes of other sports who have to play multiple games in a week the travel out west and then maybe have to travel to another away game before coming home. Therefore I am no longer in support

Maybe, I don't see the travel to C/S a problem, since each ACC team can pair with another and play both over a single trip. The travel for C/S would be brutal. BTW... PITT is one of the strongest "yes" votes. Why do you think that is?
