Cal and Stanford ain't leaving tht ACC. Respectfully, that's the most ignorant thing ive heard today.

Cal & Stanford could easily rethink their membership in the ACC once the reality of the increased travel begins to set in.

And if the ACC implodes because ESPN turns down the extension option and FSU and Clemson win their lawsuits? What then?

Stanford and Cal could easily reconsider their membership in a conference that they didn’t want to join. What they won’t ever do is join Pac-12 2.0.

Cal & Stanford will attempt to go with ND to the B1G once the ACC collapses....which likely won't work out for Cal and they'll go back to the Pac.

Here’s who the PAC should be targeting… Now there are many obstacles in place based on current conference affiliations, buyouts, and political alliances, but here we go: CAL Stanford UNLV UTSA Memphis Tulane USF North Texas Texas state Gonzaga St. Mary’s Even if the PAC cannot regain CAL and Stanford, with all the schools listed above, this would most certainly solidify the PAC as the best 5th conference and potentially regain autonomous status with merit.

15:42 Um English association football has playoffs, it just tends to be a separate competition. Also for lower divisions, the last promotion spot goes to a two round playoff, which tends to be quite dramatic.

It’s gonna stay the Top 5 Conference Champs. They’ll be fighting for the G5 spot.

There is no Power 5, or Power 4. It's now THE BIG TWO, the Other P2, and then everyone else (e.g. the G6). The Pac is trying to position itself as the premier G6 conference with some sort of access to a CFP berth. I think everyone knows an automatic bid for the Pac is not in the cards.
@ryansuter4424Ай бұрын
4 conferences currently have an automatic bid to the college playoffs. The automatic bid is a part Of being a power conference.

Cal and Stanford bring a different Media Market! From regionality standpoint it makes since for Cal and Stanford to go back to the PAC12 but that is going against the current trend of having teams from multiple time zones.

Mountain West should be able to stay alive. There's plenty of good FCS schools they can bring up to FBS. Maybe the Dakota schools finally move up. There's a lot of good teams in the Big Sky they can grab (Montana schools, Idaho, Eastern Washington, Portland State, Sacramento State)
@tylernelson33432 ай бұрын
I don’t see Eastern Washington moving up . I could see Sacramento State moving up to MWC,
@joeykelly56422 ай бұрын
I'm not sure about the other schools, but Idaho's facilities are embarrassing even by FCS standards. They would need to make a significant investment to court the PAC, MWC, or any other conference at the FBS level. There's a reason they were the first (and maybe only?) program to voluntarily drop to FCS.

There are no auto bids for any conference in the 12 team playoff. It's the 5 highest ranked conference champs and 7 at large spots... most people just assume that means it will be the Big10, SEC, ACC, Big 12 champs, and a G5 Champion, but none of those conferences auto qualify to the playoff.
@zplapplap2 ай бұрын
The B1G, SEC, ACC & Big XII contest conference championship games. The winners of those respective championship games automatically qualify for the CFP playoff. These four conferences will always have at least one team in the playoff. It’s what the format requires. The conference champion gets the autobid. It’s a bid that is expressly reserved, and there is no additional qualifying criteria for that conference champion. It’s an autobid.
@jacobcg54892 ай бұрын
@@zplapplapGo and read the College Football Playoff website. It says the top 5 Conference Champions and the next 7 highest ranked teams will get into the 12 team playoff. Just because a team wins a P4 Conference doesn't mean they will automatically qualify for the playoffs. More than likely they will because most years the 5 highest ranked conference champs will be the P4 Champs and a G5 champ, but it is possible that 2 G5 Champs are ranked higher than a P4 Champion, which would mean 3 P4 Champs, and 2 G5 Champs would get the 5 auto bids to the playoffs, and a P4 Champ could be left out... will that ever happen... probably not, but my point is the Big 12, ACC, Big10, and ACC DO NOT have auto bids to the playoff.
