Throughout the years i have slowly purchased equipment. All of the small purchases were bought on my credit card and paid in full at the end of the month. However the big items like trucks and loaders were financed. At the moment i have 366k in debt that is being paid every month.
Don't be afraid of debt. Use it correctly

@@TigranGertz we all have different ways of looking at it. Knowing cash flow and leverage is important. I did buy 12 super duties and a dozer last week with cash from a bankruptcy......oil guys never thought cash flow would stop....commercial realestate never thought big corporations would ever allow working from home....you have to work your first 20 hours a week to break even (depending on the job). If times are slow a contractor with less debt can work cheaper. Great video on an important topic. Thanks

This comment section is great. Most people have no idea how to use debt to their advantage. Yes you can run a business with no debt however, it is usually much less efficient and ends up costing you much more in the long run. Just think if he had to rent a skid steer every time he needs one, he would be spending more in a year than the machine is worth. Or you could buy a piece of shit used machine that is constantly breaking down and you end up spending more money repair it than a newer machine would cost. Sometimes its cheaper to be in debt. Of course there is risk with debt. If you don't want any risk feel free to go work for someone else. Cash flow is king.

Turn keys or turn wrenches? How do you want to start your day? Working on that old work truck just to get it going for the day hoping it will make it through the day? Or, buy new and simply turn the key and go. Yes, you'll have a payment on the new rig, but WAY less downtime = lost revenue. Also, curb appeal and having a professional look = new trucks on the jobsite. I used to bid my jobs with a beat up S-10 (let's the customer know your bid will be competitive and you're eager to do better for yourself)...and show up for the job with polished stainless beds you could see yourself in! I would tell the customers I don't need a fancy truck to ride back and forth to work in...but your topsoil and gravel will only ride in the highest quality dump beds!

Debt has its place in business no doubt. Just need to be smart about it. Why you are driving around in a $90k truck is plain stupid as it generates the same amount of money as a $45k truck. The house was paid off about 15years ago shortly after retirement. Their friends took on excessive debts and are now all poor. My dad uses to flip houses and had two restaurants. He just paid everything in cash. To each his own.

can you make a video about the cost of employees , have you ever had theft problems from employees, do your employees treat your tools like if they were there own? good employees can make a company and bad employees can break it, how do you deal with employees always wanting higher pay because you can only give so many raises before all the money is gone and then you have no leverage to work with after that, also does your employees ever tell you that they appreciate it that you supply them with good stuff to make the work easier or do they complain?

Unless you have let’s say 100K cash just in reserves not to actually spend to protect you for let’s say 6 months-12months of no work coming in then you’re golden. Debt is bad. in your personal finances debt must be balanced or next to none, savings is important. Managed debt for business is another matter entirely.

Tigran is 100% right. Watch Ben Mallah millionaire real estate investor, if banks gave him the money he made deals. Its free money you wont be able to grow your business without it. To all that say paying cash is king... You're essentially saying you will never go after your dream idea unless you have the cash on hand to do it. You would turn down money from a bank to go after your dream LOL. That is why some live in a corner and never wanna make a mistake in life. I have a business with van and tools so I'm living it. Any haters on Tigran should respect him for providing jobs to people with his debt that is has. Most dont see that lol

Everyone thought debt was great in 2008 too until the sh1* started to hit the fan. Of course the big guys walked away just fine with their own bank account barely touched.

Nailed it, and the “assets” everyone is referring to won’t be worth half of what he owes, the brand new truck that’s owed $83,000 on won’t even bring $40,000 when he tries to sell, same with ever other asset including the semi that’s paid off, and the little bit of profit from that won’t be enough to cover the debts, saw it in 2008 and again in the oilfield in 2015
